Dennehey Spikes a Lucky Turn

Level 10 : Blinds 1,000/1,500, 1,500 ante

John Dennehey opened to 4,000 in the cutoff and was called by the button. They went heads-up to a flop of {k-Clubs}{q-Diamonds}{9-Clubs} and Dennehey continued with a bet of 7,000. The button just called and the {6-Clubs} landed on the turn.

Dennehey checked this time and the button tossed in a bet of 13,000. Dennehey check-raised all in, putting his opponent to the test for his stack of around 42,000. He thought for a brief moment and then called it off.

Dennehey turned over {a-Clubs}{3-Clubs} for the nut flush and had his opponent drawing dead who showed {j-Spades}{10-Diamonds} for a straight. The insignificant {q-Hearts} completed the board and Dennehey stacked his opponent.

Last Few Entries

Level 10 : Blinds 1,000/1,500, 1,500 ante

There was a rush at the registration desk during the break for some players to take their last shot at spinning up a stack. The tournament clock currently reads a total of 340 entries for Day 1b but those numbers are still being finalized.

Level: 10

Blinds: 1,000/1,500

Ante: 1,500

Last Break Before Registration Ends

Level 9 : Blinds 600/1,200, 1,200 ante

There are currently a total of 328 entries for Day 1b, meaning the tournament will likely fall just short of the $500,000 guaranteed prizepool. The remaining 144 players are going on another 15-minute break and registration will close once the action resumes.

Quads for Schanbacher Puts Him at the Top

Level 9 : Blinds 600/1,200, 1,200 ante
Jason Schanbacher
Jason Schanbacher

The hijack opened to 4,500 and Jason Schanbacher called from the cutoff. The big blind also came along to see a flop of {9-Hearts}{5-Hearts}{2-Diamonds}. The hijack continued with a bet of 5,000 and Schanbacher raised to 10,000. The hijack replied by shoving all in for around 85,000 which Schanbacher quickly called with the bigger stack.

Opponent: {a-Hearts}{7-Hearts}
Jason Schanbacher: {2-Spades}{2-Clubs}

Schanbacher flopped a set of deuces but his opponent still had out with a flush draw. The {q-Diamonds} bricked off on the turn and it was the {2-Hearts} on the river. Schanbacher saw the flush at first and was disappointed but quickly realized that he made quads in the process.

Givens Wants to Play for Stacks

Level 9 : Blinds 600/1,200, 1,200 ante

After a limp from under the gun, Will Givens also just called in early position. The player on his left bumped it up to 4,500 and the action folded back to Givens who called.

The flop came {j-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}{5-Clubs} and Givens checked to his opponent who continued with a bet of 5,500. Givens reached for a stack of 5,000 chips and dropped in about 50,000. His opponent had a decision to make for his final 22,000 chips but elected to lay his hand down.
