Ryan Laplante Gets Straight to the Point

Level 5 : 200/400, 400 ante
Ryan Laplante
Ryan Laplante

Ryan Laplante started the action with a min-raise to 800 from the hijack position. Everyone folded around to the player in the big blind who made the call.

The {7-Hearts}{3-Clubs}{5-Diamonds} on the flop led to a check from the early-position player. Laplante continued his aggression with a bet of 800. The big blind quickly called and the turn card was presented.

The {8-Hearts} turn brought a check from both the early-position player and Laplante.

Finally, the {6-Clubs} river brought a long pause to Laplante's opponent. After a few moments of thought, he checked. Laplante was not quick to act while looking over the board. A bet of 3,500 (about a pot-size bet) was pushed towards the center by Laplante. His opponent quickly called and saw the bad news.

Laplante turned over {k-}{9-} for a rivered straight. His opponent held onto his cards for a lingering moment before throwing them into the muck.

Donnie Phan Takes Down a Huge Hand

Level 6 : 300/500, 500 ante
Donnie Phan
Donnie Phan

An early position player opened with a min raise but Donnie Phan had other plans. Phan raised to 2,300 from middle position leading to folds from everyone but the small blind and initial raiser who both called.

Flop: {3-Hearts}{9-Clubs}{j-Spades}

Phan and his two opponents checked their action.

Turn: {k-Spades}

The player in the small blind position led out for 5,300. The initial raiser folded and Phan made the call.

River: {j-Diamonds}

The opponent in the small blind position went all-in for 10,600. Phan went into the tank while replaying the hand and focusing on the board. Phan reluctantly called as he turned over his {a-Clubs}{k-Hearts}. The small blind player flashed his {8-Spades}{6-Spades} for a missed flush draw before throwing them into the muck.
