Hayek Doubles Through Dykes

Level 20 : 10,000/20,000, 3,000 ante

Peter Dykes opened the cutoff to 50,000 and Joseph Hayek jammed for the last 146,000 out of the big blind, which Dykes called.

Hayek tabled {q-Diamonds}{q-Hearts} and Dykes had one overcard in {a-Diamonds}{7-Clubs}. The board came {j-Diamonds}{6-Spades}{5-Clubs}{k-Hearts}{7-Diamonds} and one seven was not enough for Dykes to deal the final blow.

Luke Edwards Eliminated in 21st Place (A$14,818)

Level 20 : 10,000/20,000, 3,000 ante
Luke Edwards
Luke Edwards

Luke Edwards shoved from the middle position for 150,000 and was called by Bernie Stang on the button and Sam Vakili in the small blind.

The flop came {3-Spades}{7-Clubs}{10-Spades}, Vakili checked and Stang quickly shoved. Vakili asked for a count and the dealer confirmed Stang had 889,000 behind. Vakili tanked for a while and then decided to make the call with the bigger stack.

Luke Edwards: {a-Hearts}{5-Diamonds}
Bernie Stang: {a-Spades}{j-Spades}
Sam Vakili: {8-Spades}{8-Diamonds}

Edwards needed to hit a runner-runner to stay alive. Stang had a pair of eights in his hand and nothing more. Vakili held two overcards and a flush draw.

The turn was the {k-Clubs} to now also give Vaikili a gutshot to a Broadway but keep Stang ahead. Edwards' fate was sealed as he was drawing dead.

The river completed the board with the {3-Clubs} for Stang to improve to two pair to eliminate Edwards and earn a full double-up through Vakili.
