Double Knockout for Antar to Reach the Bubble

Level 15 : 3,000/6,000, 1,000 ante
Joe Antar
Joe Antar

The money bubble has been reached as two players were eliminated in the same hand.

Carlos Gonzalez raised and picked up two calls by Navid King in the small blind and Joe Antar in the big blind. On a {k-Clubs}{6-Spades}{5-Clubs} flop, the action checked to Gonzalez and he bet 12,000. King jammed for 90,000 and Antar called, as did Gonzalez.

After the {3-Spades} turn, Antar moved all in and Gonzalez called it off for around 100,000.

Navid King: {k-Hearts}{9-Hearts}
Carlos Gonzalez: {a-Hearts}{a-Diamonds}
Joe Antar: {k-Diamonds}{5-Spades}

The {7-Hearts} on the river was a blank and it turned out that the double knockout reduced the field to the final 64, eight players each on eight tables.

Error on the Bubble Information

Level 15 : 3,000/6,000, 1,000 ante

The tournament staff had inadvertently announced that everyone was in the money after the double knock-out and resumed play. After several hands were played, the tournament clock was paused again. Another announcement was made: an error was made and the tournament was still on the bubble and hand-for-hand play would commence now.

This did not go down well with the players as hands would have been played differently in a bubble situation. The responsible tournament director was called to one of the tables where they had a complaint. She listened to the players, apologized, and half walked away. The players demanded that someone higher up looked at the issue as the general consensus was that all 64 players should get paid now instead of having a bubble.

The tournament director walked away and a few minutes later she made another announcement: The tournament should continue as is with the hand-for-hand play on the bubble as 63 players will be paid. If anyone had a complaint, they can email the Poker Operations Manager on Monday.

This caused outrage with some of the players but the tournament clock has been restarted and hand-for-hand play has been started.

Chip leader Joe Antar raised and Salvatore Fazzino just called out of the big blind to see a {j-Hearts}{5-Clubs}{5-Hearts} flop, on which he check-called a bet of 6,000. Fazzino check-called another bet of 15,000 on the {3-Diamonds} turn and the {5-Diamonds} came on the river.

Fazzino checked and Antar pushed all in. Fazzino had around 300,000 behind and sigh-called after some consideration.

Antar rolled over {9-Hearts}{5-Spades} for quads and the jaws of all players on the table dropped when Fazzino showed his {j-Clubs}{j-Diamonds} for jacks full flopped, pushed his chips to the dealer and silently walked away.

Chick Goes Runner Runner For the Double

Level 15 : 3,000/6,000, 1,000 ante

Murray Chick min-raised to 12,000 and called the shove of Ardi Jaya in the small blind.

Chick tabled the {k-Hearts}{q-Diamonds} and Jaya was ahead with {a-Spades}{9-Diamonds}. The {a-Hearts}{5-Hearts}{5-Diamonds} flop all but sealed the fate of Chick, and he said just one word. "Hearts."

The {7-Hearts} turn and {10-Hearts} river brought the miracle flush and he doubled.

Egan Eliminated by Lassau

Level 15 : 3,000/6,000, 1,000 ante
Michael Egan
Michael Egan

Michael Egan was all in before the flop for what appeared to be 140,000 and tabled the {a-Spades}{j-Hearts}, while Mark Lassau had {q-Spades}{q-Diamonds}.

Nothing changed on the {9-Clubs}{8-Spades}{5-Hearts} flop, but Egan turned the {a-Clubs} to take the lead. Some groans came from the table when the {q-Hearts} river restored the preflop order and sent Egan to the rail in 60th place.

Lassau then lost some of his profit in the last hand of the level when chip leader Joe Antar scooped a pot with {q-Spades}{q-Clubs} on a king-high board.
