The exciting Triton Super High Roller Series is back, this time hitting the Island of Jeju in South Korea at the Landing Casino. Over the course of the last few years, Triton has put on some of the biggest, most exciting high roller events in Asia and Europe, and this stop will feature more of the same. Kicking off the series is the HKD $100,000 Short Deck Ante Only event which is likely to draw out some of the biggest names in poker.

The Triton Poker series was founded by Malaysian businessman Richard Yong in 2015 and aims to provide exclusive tournaments in some of the worlds most luxurious locations with much of the proceeds going to charitable causes. At the last stop in Budva, Montenegro, Phil Ivey conquered a field of 61 runners to take home the first place prize of HKD $4,700,000 or roughly $600,000 USD (It's worth noting that the buy-in for this event was HKD $250,000 though).

Montenegro also saw the likes of Jason Koon, Richard Yong, and Mikita Badziakouski all take home trophies as well with Badzikouski bringing home the bacon in the Main Event and Yong and Koon both take down side events, Koon winning the HKD $1,000,000 Short Deck tournament.

As a refresher course for the short deck poker rules, sometimes known as six-plus hold'em, the game runs very similarly to no-limit hold'em, with a few major changes. All twos, threes, fours, and fives are removed from the deck to start. Other than that, six-plus hold’em is played similarly to regular hold’em with two hole cards, five community cards, and four streets of betting — preflop, flop, turn, and river.

The other big difference for the game is in hand rankings. Since hand equities run a bit different in the game flushes play higher than full houses since there are only eight cards to make a flush opposed to 13. Also to note, aces can still play for a low straight, replacing the five, making ace-six-seven-eight-nine a straight as well.

This event features a no-blind, antes only structure, creating more action among the players as there is something to fight for in every pot. Players will start off with 100,000 chips and antes of 1,000 and a double ante on the button. Players will have a chance to reload twice for an extra 100,000 chips each time at any point on day 1. All levels will be 30 minutes on Day 1 with a 10-minute break after three levels and a 15-minute dinner break after nine levels. Day 1 will end after 9 levels have been played.

Action for this first event is set to begin at 4 p.m. KST with Day 1a of play. Live streams of the event will also be available on Twitch.tv as well. For updates from throughout the tournament, PokerNews will be here as well, so be sure to follow along with our coverage. As a note, our coverage of the event will line up with the live stream and will have a 30-minute delay as well.

Quiet Before the Storm

The tournament clock has already been running but the play will get underway once three players will have taken their seat. So far, Ben Lamb and Mikita Badziakouski have appeared on the feature table. Stephen Chidwick has also been wandering around the room and he's expected to join the contest.

All Triton Jeju events will be streamed with the hole cards-up on Twitch, YouTube and Facebook. The PokerNews live coverage will follow the 30-minute security delay so stay tuned for the updates as the real-time action is about to kick off in the Landing Casino.

Cards In the Air

The cards are in the air for the opening event with six players starting in level 2 with the 1,000/2,000 antes. The coverage will start in about 30 minutes once the live stream gets underway.

First Pot Goes to Chan with a Bluff

Level 2 : 0/0, 1,000 ante

Action kicked off with four limps to the button and Mikita Badziakouski was on the button and he checked his option.

The flop was {7-Diamonds}{7-Hearts}{6-Diamonds} and Yee Leow Seng led out with a bet of 6,000. Wai Leong Chan then raised to 20,000. Everyone folded back to Seng who folded as well and Chan took down the pot with his raise.

From the stream, Chan was holding {A-Spades}{9-Spades} for a gutshot straight draw, while Leow was stabbing at the pot with {J-Spades}{9-Clubs} for no pair, no draw.

Badziakouski Shoves on Leow

Level 2 : 0/0, 1,000 ante

Ben Lamb limped with {Q-Diamonds}{10-Clubs} and Mikita Badziakouski overlimped with {Q-Spades}{10-Spades} before Yee Leow Seng made it 20,000 in the cutoff, holding {A-Spades}{J-Diamonds}. Lamb released his hand while Badziakouski matched the price to see the {10-Diamonds}{6-Spades}{9-Hearts} hit the flop. Badziakouski wasted no time and moved all in for 80,000 with the top pair. Leow let it go.

Lamb Flops Broadway

Level 2 : 0/0, 1,000 ante

Ben Lamb limped in the hijack with {K-Diamonds}{Q-Hearts}, Wai Kin Yong overcalled with {A-Clubs}{8-Clubs} and Mikita Badziakouski checked his {Q-Spades}{9-Spades} on the button. They went to the {J-Hearts}{10-Clubs}{A-Diamonds} flop and Lamb let Yong fire 4,000. Badziakouski called and so did Lamb.

Lamb checked the nuts again on the {6-Clubs} turn and Yong bet 16,000. Badziakouski called and Lamb woke up with a check-shove for 94,000. Yong spent around a minute processing his decision and then folded. Badziakouski gave up and Lamb raked in the pot.

"I'm hooked!" Lamb said.

Chopped Pot With Two Houses

Level 2 : 0/0, 1,000 ante

From the small blind, Ben Lamb limped in. Was Kin Yong was in the hijack and he called. Mikita Badziakouski called in the cutoff and Kenneth Kee checked on the button.

The flop was {A-Spades}{Q-Diamonds}{Q-Hearts} and action checked around.

The turn was the {Q-Clubs} and now Lamb led out with a bet of 4,000. Yong called as did Badziakouski while Kee folded.

The river was the {8-Spades} and Lamb checked. Yong checked as well. Badziakouski tanked for a bit, then checked as well. Yong showed down his {A-Hearts}{7-Hearts} for a full house while Badziakouski showed {A-Diamonds}{6-Clubs} to take down half the pot. Lamb was holding a full house as well with {7-Diamonds}{8-Clubs} but it was no good.
