Two Flights Remain to Qualify for Day 2 of the 2022 PokerStars UKIPT £1,100 Main Event

Hippodrome Casino - Location Shots
Hippodrome Casino - Location Shots

More than five years after one of the most popular regional PokerStars branded tours took place the last time, the United Kingdom and Ireland Poker Tour (UKIPT) has returned to one of its most iconic locations. The Hippodrome Casino in London has hosted the relaunch of the series since April 1, 2022, and the marquee event on the schedule got underway yesterday.

Day 1a of the 2022 UKIPT London £1,100 Main Event drew a total of 191 entries of which 31 players bagged and tagged chips for Day 2. All those that didn't make it or any poker enthusiasts from near and far have another two chances in order to join the Day 1a survivors.

As of noon local time, Day 1b gets underway in the new tournament room on the ground floor and it will feature a total of 13 levels, each lasting 50 minutes. The late registration period is open until the end of level 10 and following break. During that time, players can purchase up to two re-entries if they run out of chips. All participants receive 30,000 in chips, which is good enough for 300 big blinds in the first level with blinds of 100-100 and a big blind ante of 100.

While the early starting time may perhaps not fancy those still busy with the day job, the turbo heat 1c is kicking off at 6pm local time. The very same 13 levels will be played but the duration is cut down to 30 minutes each and both starting days should conclude around 1 a.m. local time.

All PokerNews updates will focus on Day 1b and the final chip counts for both flights will be published upon completion of the card festivities. Stay tuned for what shapes up to be a very busy day at the Hippodrome Casino with hundreds of poker players from near and far in contention.

Da-Silva Doubles Through Ene

Level 2 : 100/200, 200 ante
Deborah Worley-Roberts - Chris Da-Silva
Deborah Worley-Roberts - Chris Da-Silva

Gabriel Ene had chipped up even further and then tangled in three-way action that also involved Chris Da-Silva and Tony Poulengeris. The latter folded to the shove by Da-Silva on the {k-Spades}{9-Spades}{6-Clubs}{8-Clubs}{q-Hearts} river while Ene called. Da-Silva tabled the {j-Clubs}{10-Spades} for the nuts to secure the double, as Ene's cards were mucked but briefly revealed to be the {k-Clubs}{10-Diamonds} for the top pair.

Poulengeris mentioned in table chat that he had two pair with king-queen.

Triple Knockout for Jordon

Level 3 : 100/300, 300 ante

Soon after the double for Kanan Farzaliyev, the very same table brought more fireworks and none other than Terry Jordon looked up three shorter stacks in a four-way all-in. The biggest stack of around 18,000 belonged to Colin Paddington, while Gary Tan and Carlos Estivill were also involved as well.

Carlos Estivill: {a-Spades}{j-Spades}
Gary Tan: {q-Spades}{q-Clubs}
Colin Paddington: {6-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds}
Terry Jordon: {5-Spades}{4-Spades}

The {8-Spades}{7-Hearts}{6-Clubs} flop brought some magic Jordon as he flopped the straight. Nothing changed on the {k-Diamonds} turn and the {a-Hearts} river secured the triple knockout for Jordon. "Five high like a boss," the Brit joked as he raked in the pot with a big grin on the face.

Quadruple Up for Sidhu

Level 4 : 200/400, 400 ante
Kully Sidhu
Kully Sidhu

Four ways to the {6-Hearts}{5-Spades}{3-Spades} flop, the action checked to Kin Luu and he bet 2,300. Cameron Cunningham then jammed for 18,400 in the cutoff and Kully Sidhu called all-in for 14,400 on the button. Edwar Saade in the big blind called and Luu then reshoved for 46,400, which forced out Saade (who mentioned to have folded the top two pair).

Kully Sidhu: {4-Spades}{2-Spades}
Cameron Cunningham: {3-Hearts}{3-Diamonds}
Kin Luu: {j-Clubs}{j-Hearts}

The flopped straight of Sidhu improved to a flush on the {7-Spades} turn and {9-Spades} river to secure the quadruple up while Cunningham won the small side pot.

Roller Coaster Runout Felts Lee

Level 5 : 200/500, 500 ante
Brandon Sheils
Brandon Sheils

Jason Lee and Brandon Sheils tangled in a post flop all-in contest on the {8-Spades}{4-Hearts}{3-Spades} flop on which Lee was covered by a small margin.

Jason Lee: {a-Spades}{k-Spades}
Brandon Sheils: {q-Clubs}{q-Spades}

The {k-Diamonds} turn improved Lee but the {q-Diamonds} river restored the preflop order, giving Sheils a set. The stacks were counted and Sheils' 23,300 covered to send Lee to the rail.

Da-Silva and Bradley Eliminated by Moore

Level 7 : 400/800, 800 ante
Chris Da-Silva
Chris Da-Silva

Mike Moore opened to 2,000 in the cutoff and John Bradley three-bet jammed for what appeared to be around 18,000 on the button. Chris Da-Silva got a near identical stack in from the small blind and Moore instantly called.

Chris Da-Silva: {a-Clubs}{k-Hearts}
John Bradley: {8-Clubs}{8-Diamonds}
Mike Moore: {k-Clubs}{k-Diamonds}

The {j-Diamonds}{7-Clubs}{4-Clubs} flop and {q-Diamonds} turn were not without hope for Da-Silva but the {2-Diamonds} river knocked out the Hippodrome sponsored pro and Bradley.

Sitbon Busts Schwaederle; Doubles Luu

Level 7 : 400/800, 800 ante
Julien Sitbon
Julien Sitbon

Julien Sitbon raised to 1,800 from under the gun and Cedric Schwaederle three-bet to 7,000 in the small blind. Sitbon then made it 16,800 to go and Schwaederle shipped it in for what appeared to be 43,000 and was snapped off by Sitbon.

Cedric Schwaederle: {a-Diamonds}{k-Spades}
Julien Sitbon: {a-Spades}{a-Hearts}

The board ran out {k-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}{2-Diamonds}{q-Clubs}{2-Spades} and the aces held.

That also applied shortly after when Kin Luu got it in preflop for 15,500 with {a-Clubs}{a-Hearts} versus {k-Diamonds}{q-Hearts}. The {10-Hearts}{10-Clubs}{8-Hearts}{6-Diamonds}{q-Clubs} board kept aces ahead all the way.

Saout Eliminated by Slater

Level 8 : 500/1,000, 1,000 ante
Antoine Saout
Antoine Saout

In a battle button versus small blind, Antoine Saout shipped it in for what appeared to be 32,000 on the {8-Clubs}{7-Hearts}{5-Diamonds}{j-Spades} turn. He only needed to get through Tim Slater and the latter took some 30 seconds to make the call.

Antoine Saout: {6-Hearts}{6-Spades}
Tim Slater: {9-Spades}{6-Clubs}

"Really?" a rather irritated Saout said after he was seemingly suspecting a slow-roll. There was no chop after the blank {k-Spades} river and Saout headed out of the tournament area once more.

Beuter Busts High Roller Champ O'Neill

Level 8 : 500/1,000, 1,000 ante
Jack O'Neill
Jack O'Neill

Jack O'Neill had been hovering just under or over the starting stack for a while and was just spotted on his way out of the tournament area. The cards were still tabled as his {q-Hearts}{q-Clubs} went down in flames, ending up second-best to the {j-Hearts}{j-Spades} of Patrick Beuter. On a board of {j-Diamonds}{8-Clubs}{4-Diamonds}{k-Spades}{7-Hearts}, the jacks spiked a set to send O'Neill to the rail.

Mike Moore conceded the biggest stack on the table as Beuter is now ahead of him, the same also applies for Gabriel Ene from one seat over as well.

Sheils Binks the River to Bust Plocki

Level 9 : 600/1,200, 1,200 ante
Brandon Sheils
Brandon Sheils

Maciej Plocki raised to 2,800 and Brandon Sheils then three-bet to 6,800 from one seat over. Plocki pushed for 33,800 and Sheils eyeballed the stack of his table neighbour for ten seconds before making the call.

Maciej Plocki: {k-Hearts}{k-Clubs}
Brandon Sheils: {a-Clubs}{q-Spades}

Nothing changed on the {10-Diamonds}{7-Clubs}{5-Hearts} flop but the {q-Diamonds} turn gave Sheils some additional outs. He did get there with the {a-Spades} on the river and had Plocki covered by a small margin.
