Lybaert Arrives; Heikkila Folds

Level 3 : 150/300, 50 ante

While Bart Lybaert just arrived one table over, Markus Heikkila was involved in a raising war with his table neighbor Christophe Mertens. Heikkila had squeezed to 2,100 and then Mertens four-bet to 5,200 to eventually enforce a fold from the Swede. Heikkila had made a deep run in Cannes but ultimately missed out on the money.

Dingenen and van Itterbeeck Fold

Level 3 : 150/300, 50 ante

Dieter van Itterbeeck was the initial raiser from under the gun and picked up three callers, heading to the flop {3-Spades}{Q-Clubs}{7-Clubs}. The Belgian made a continuation bet worth 1,900 and Parkas Somer called. Maksym Lavrov then raised to 6,000 with 10,000 behind and that enforced folds from table big stack Tom Dingenen, van Itterbeeck and Somer.

Trio Increases Stack

Level 3 : 150/300, 50 ante

Morgan Wald may very well be the first player on six digits when it comes to the overall chip count, as the Swede has increased the stack further. Same applies for Niels de Wijs, who is hot on his heels, as well as Guy Goosens.

Heirman Busts Somer

Level 3 : 150/300, 50 ante

"I folded five-six suited," Dieter van Itterbeeck said after the showdown on the river of a board {5-Clubs}{5-Spades}{K-Clubs}{7-Hearts}{3-Spades}. Parkas Somer had moved all in for his last 8,125 chips into a pot of 19,000 and his opponent Mark Heirman eventually called. Somer immediately tapped the table and then showed the {J-Spades}{J-Diamonds}, which Heirman had beat with {K-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds} for kings and fives.

Hendriks Doubles; Kleiven Busts

Level 3 : 150/300, 50 ante
Joachim Kleiven
Joachim Kleiven

"It was fun while it lasted," Joachim Kleiven joked and walked away from the table with a smile on the face. He had just doubled up Alex Hendriks for almost all of his chips with {A-Hearts}{K-Hearts} versus {K-Diamonds}{K-Clubs} and the board {Q-Hearts}{4-Clubs}{2-Spades}{2-Diamonds}{9-Hearts} had blanked. The remaining 825 chips vanished with {Q-}{6-} against Jorma Vuoksenmaa shortly after the and Norwegian finalist from Cannes was out.

Martinsson Gets a Rule Reminder

Level 4 : 200/400, 75 ante

With the board reading {5-Diamonds}{J-Spades}{8-Spades}{9-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}, there were about 10,000 in the pot and Morgan Wald made a bet of 6,100. His table neighbor Tomas Martinsson tossed in two yellow T-5,000 chips. Wald had already mucked the cards and then the dealer asked Martinsson whether he wanted to call or to raise.

"I wanted to raise. I know what I did wrong," the Swede replied and floor didn't have to be called to clarify the situation. Both Swedes have started well and sit

Wald (Almost) on Fire

Level 4 : 200/400, 75 ante

Marc Naalden has been eliminated after turning a straight with {A-}{9-}. It was an unfortunate timing, as Morgan Wald had flopped the higher straight with {Q-Spades}{9-Diamonds} on {J-}{10-}{8-} and scored the knockout. Shortly after, Auke Attema was all in for 8,050 and Wald pushed forward his stack of T-5,000 chips to isolate.

Attema had {Q-Hearts}{J-Clubs} and the Swede the {A-Clubs}{K-Clubs}. This time however, the player at risk got there on the board {J-Hearts}{3-Diamonds}{8-Clubs}{Q-Clubs}{7-Hearts} to put a small dent into the stack of Wald.

Weenink Joins

Level 4 : 200/400, 75 ante

Alex Hendriks lost some of his early profit and fell below starting stack while Jochum Weenink in the seat over went the other way. The Dutchman three-bet against Jorma Vuoksenmaa and was called by the Finn. On the flop {4-Spades}{K-Hearts}{3-Hearts}, Vuoksenmaa check-called a bet of 1,600 and did so again for 2,200 on the {K-Spades} turn.

The {6-Spades} river slowed things down and both players checked, Vuoksenmaa showed a pair of fours and a busted flush draw while Weenink raked in the pot with {Q-Clubs}{Q-Hearts}.
