Glaser and Mertens Double

Level 14 : 2,500/5,000, 500 ante

Hendrik Mertens just flat-called a raise out of the big blind and check-shoved the {K-Spades}{10-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds} flop for 69,000. Periklis Charmpilas on the button reluctantly called and sighed when he was shown the {A-Clubs}{k-Clubs} by the Dutchman. Charmpilas only had {K-Hearts}{5-Spades} and the {A-Hearts} turn locked up the double for Mertens, which made the {2-Spades} river a formality.

Charmpilas ran out of chips shortly after, while another short stack found a double. Benny Glaser got it in from the small blind with {A-Clubs}{J-Clubs} and Henri Koivisto on the button called with {Q-Hearts}{6-Clubs}. The board ran out {A-Spades}{K-Clubs}{9-Spades}{Q-Clubs}{J-Hearts} to give the three-time WSOP bracelet winner new hope for a second cash in Dublin on his first trip to Ireland.
