The Winamax Poker Open Bratislava €500 Main Event has been a roaring success at the Banco Casino and has exceeded expectations on several levels.

It was going to be a tough ask to best the highly praised 2022 Winamax Poker Open Madrid, but when the dust settled over the four starting flights, a new attendance record was set at 2,221. Furthermore, the €977,240 prize pool is the largest poker purse to ever be generated in Slovakia.

From the newly record-setting field, just 14 players are in contention to be crowned the winer of the WPO Bratislava Main Event, with all of them vying to capture the title and €120,000 first-place prize.

Clement Bonnant piloted over the biggest stack from Day 2 and will begin with 14,725,000 in chips, which is good for 49 big blinds. Rounding out the top three chip stacks heading into Day 3 are Adrien Guyon (12,075,000) and Vincent Malet (11,625,000). Action resumes at Level 40 with the blinds set at 150,000/300.000 and a 300,000 big blind ante. Levels have also increased to 40-minutes in length.

Malet Goes into the Tank

Level 40 : Blinds 150,000/300,000, 300,000 ante

Action was picked up on the turn with 1,400,000 in the pot. With the {j-Diamonds}{5-Hearts}{5-Diamonds}{q-Clubs} board on show, Vincent Malet check-raised to 2,300,000 from under the gun after Igor Mataruga bet 650,000. Mataruga called from the button.

Malet then checked the {9-Hearts} river before Mataruga jammed for 6,100,000. Malet went deep into the tank, and after five minutes the clock was called and Malet eventually let it go.

Arturo Carnicer Eliminated in 14th Place (€7,500)

Arturo Carnincer

Arturo Carnicer moved all in for his last 2,500,000 from the small blind and was called by Stefan Baczynskyj who had Carnicer covered.

Arturo Carnicer: {j-Diamonds}{10-Clubs}
Stefan Baczynskyj: {k-Hearts}{q-Diamonds}

The {9-Clubs}{9-Hearts}{10-Diamonds} flopped gave Baczynskyj a gutshot straight draw while Carnicer made a pair. The {j-Hearts} turn completed the bigger stacks straight and the {8-Diamonds} river confirmed the at risk player's exit.

Raphael Blouet

Nacho Barbero jammed for 5,450,000 before Raphael Blouet moved all in for slightly more in the small blind. Clement Bonnant made the snap-call from the big blind and had the two players at risk of elimination.

Nacho Barbero: {9-Clubs}{9-Spades}
Raphael Blouet: {8-Clubs}{8-Hearts}
Clement Bonnant: {a-Clubs}{a-Hearts}

Bonnant was in a great position to add to his chip lead and it seemed all but certain after the {10-Diamonds}{6-Spades}{5-Diamonds} flop. However, the {9-Hearts} turn shot Barbero into the lead with a set and the {3-Diamonds} river confirmed his triple up while Blouet was eliminated after being covered by Bonnant.
