Campanello Runs Into Jacks

Level 5 : 150/300, 25 ante

We arrived in time to see Bryan Campanello and a lone opponent looking down at a board of {6-Diamonds}{8-Hearts}{10-Hearts}{8-Clubs}. Campenello was first to act and came out firing for a bet of 2,600. His opponent called to see fifth street.

The dealer burned and produced the {4-Diamonds} to finish off the board. Campanello slowed with a check and his opponent rapped the back back.

"I have a six," said Campanello.

It was no good, however, as his opponent rolled over {J-Diamonds}{J-Spades} for a better two pair of jacks and eights. Campanello's stack is now down to approximately 34,500.

Toulouse Spikes One Outer to Stay Alive

Level 5 : 150/300, 25 ante

We arrived at the table in time to see Mark Toulouse all in and at risk against an opponent on a flop of {8-Hearts}{4-Clubs}{Q-Diamonds}. Toulouse was looking good with {8-Clubs}{8-Diamonds} for middle set until his opponent flipped over the one hand that bested him - {Q-Spades}{Q-Clubs} for top set.

The {6-Spades} rolled off on the turn, meaning that Toulose needed to spike the last remaining eight in the deck to stay alive. The table let out a collective gasp that silenced the room after the {8-Spades} drilled the river. Toulouse made quad eights and was shipped the double up. His stack now sits at about 24,000.

Harder's Raise Takes it Down

Level 6 : 200/400, 50 ante

We get to the table and a player in early position has opened for a raise to 1,000. He was called by a player in middle position and the player in the small blind. Christian Harder was in the big blind and put out a raise to 4,800. The original raiser quickly folded as did the player in middle position.

The player in the small blind was not so quick but he ultimately decided to let it go. Harder's stack sat at 55,000 after the hand.

Massey Scores Knockout with Top Two

Level 6 : 200/400, 50 ante
Aaron Massey
Aaron Massey

Aaron Massey and an opponent took a flop of {A-Spades}{Q-Spades}{9-Diamonds} in a raised pot. Massey was first to act and led out for 900. His opponent instantly raised the action to 6,000 and Massey quickly called.

The turn was the {8-Hearts} and Massey flung out a single orange T5,000 chip. His opponent responded with a raise all in for approximately 28,000, prompting Massey to look back down at his cards.

"Set of nines?" he said out loud before announcing a call.

Massey: {A-Clubs}{Q-Clubs}
Opponent: {K-Clubs}{10-Spades}

Massey's top two pair were in a commanding lead and he scored the knockout after the {10-Clubs} completed the board. The 2012 River Poker Series Main Event champion now has roughly 82,000 just over halfway through Level 6.
