Cheong Over Eyster

Level 25 : 15,000/30,000, 5,000 ante

Joseph Cheong and Kevin Eyster took a flop of {5-Clubs}{5-Spades}{2-Spades}. Cheong was first to act and he fired out a bet of 110,000. Eyster, on the button, came over the top for 250,000 total. Cheong called to see a turn.

The dealer put out the {6-Hearts} on the turn and Cheong checked to the raiser. Eyster knocked the table back, allowing the {2-Diamonds} to finish the community cards. Both players checked again and Cheong showed down the winning {8-Spades}{8-Hearts}. He now has about 1.65 million to his name.

Abdul Almagableh Doubles Through Gaviao

Level 26 : 20,000/40,000, 5,000 ante

Abdul Almagableh opened to 75,000 from late position and Jonathan Gaviao reraised to 200,000 from the small blind. The big blind folded and Almagableh would tank for several minutes — long enough for the clock to be called on him. He decided to move all in and was quickly called by Gaviao who held {10-Spades}{10-Hearts}. Almagableh held {A-Hearts}{9-Hearts} and would score the double up to 1.1 million chips when the board came {A-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}{8-Spades}{5-Hearts}{Q-Hearts}. Gaviao was left with 1.25 million.

Keith Carter Eliminated in 25th Place ($14,288)

Level 26 : 20,000/40,000, 5,000 ante
Keith Carter in Day 1 action
Keith Carter in Day 1 action

Keith Carter moved all in first to act from the small blind for just shy of a million in chips. Jason Helder peeked at his cards in the big blind and made the call with {9-}{9-}. It was a race as Helder had {Q-}{J-}. Carter would end up hitting two pair but it would be no good as Helder would flop a set. Carter collected $14,288 for his play and Helder moved up to 3.8 million in chips, good for the current chip lead.

Quads For Cheong

Level 26 : 20,000/40,000, 5,000 ante

We arrived at the end of the hand to see Joseph Cheong and Bryan Campanello looking down at a board of {7-Spades}{5-Diamonds}{J-Hearts}{7-Clubs}{5-Spades}. Cheong checked the river and Campanello fired out 85,000. Cheong cut out a raise to what looked like 375,000, sending Campanello into the tank.

Ultimately, Campanello elected to call. He mucked his hand, though, after seeing Cheong's {7-Hearts}{7-Diamonds} for quad sevens. Cheong took down the pot and boosted his stack to 2.32 million.

Gil George Eliminated in 24th Place ($15,876)

Level 26 : 20,000/40,000, 5,000 ante

Gil George was all in and at risk before the flop for his last roughly 450,000 against Jason Helder. George tabled {9-Hearts}{9-Clubs} and was racing for his tournament life against Helder's {A-Clubs}{J-Spades}.

The flop came {K-Diamonds}{8-Spades}{10-Spades}, keeping George's pocket nines out in front. The {Q-Spades} on the turn, however, changed everything as it gave Helder a Broadway straight for the win. The {6-Spades} finished the community cards and George was sent home in 24th place. Helder now holds the chip lead with about 4.45 million.

Adam Foster

A short-stacked Adam Foster moved all in for 240,000 and would find one caller in David "ODB" Baker. Foster held {K-Hearts}{J-Diamonds} and Baker said "this is the bottom of my range" as he turned over {A-Spades}{9-Spades}. The board ran out {A-Hearts}{8-Spades}{3-Diamonds}{A-Clubs}{2-Diamonds} to eliminate Foster in 23rd place which was good for $15,876. Baker moved to 2.1 million chips with the win.

Tejada Wins Race To Double Up

Level 26 : 20,000/40,000, 5,000 ante

Sebastian Tejada was all in and at risk for his last 570,000 with {Q-Diamonds}{Q-Hearts} and was racing against the {A-}{K-} of John Niccoli. The first card in the window was the {K-Diamonds} but the next card was the {Q-Spades} to give Tejada a set of queens. That would be more than enough to give him the double up to 1.25 million and Niccoli would drop to 600,000.

Cory Van Kleeck Eliminated in 22nd Place ($15,876); Gaviao Doubles

Level 26 : 20,000/40,000, 5,000 ante

Action folded around to Jonathan Gaviao who opened to 80,000 from late position. Vasile Fabian flatted from the small blind only to have a short-stacked Cory Van Kleeck three-bet ship all in from the big blind. Gaviao re-shipped over the top and Fabian snap-called.

Van Kleeck: {K-Spades}{Q-Hearts}
Gaviao: {Q-Clubs}{9-Clubs}
Fabian: {A-Diamonds}{A-Hearts}

Fabian was in a dominating position with his pocket aces heading to the community cards with both Van Kleeck and Gaviao at risk. The flop came down {J-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}{5-Spades}, giving both Gaviao and Van Kleeck open-ended straight draws. The {3-Spades} dropped down on the turn, leaving the two one card away from elimination.

The river, however, was a miracle for Gaviao with the {8-Hearts}, giving him a winning straight to score the elimination and score a full double. With this win, his stack is up to 2.42 million. Fabian's stack dropped to 2.2 million and Van Kleeck was eliminated in 22nd place.
