Welcome back to PokerNews coverage of the River Poker Series Main Event at the beautiful WinStar World Casino and Resort! The event began on Friday, and after two days of play there was a total of 821 entries bringing the tournament very close to the $2.5 million guaranteed prize pool. Of those entries only 83 moved on and the current chip leader is Keith Carter with 835,000 in chips. He is followed very closely by Kevin Eyster who sits with a stack of 819,000.

Today the field will play down to the top 10% of the field and then the three flights will merge and return to play Day 2 on Monday at 2 p.m. local time. All the players that make it through to Day 2 will do so knowing they have made the money. That and the other payouts will be determined once registration has closed today at approximately 3 p.m.

Other big stacks besides Carter and Eyster are the Day 1a chip leader, Matthew Lapossie, Austin Lewis, and 2010 November Niner Joseph Cheong. They are joined by notables Scott Clements, Rep Porter, Christian Harder, Andy Philachack, Webber Kang, and Bryan Campanello in moving on to Day 2 action.

Play for Day 1c will start at 12 p.m. local time, where players will take their seats with dreams of making a deep run and pocketing the one million dollar guaranteed first place prize.
