Welcome to PokerNews' coverage of Day 2 of the 2012 WinStar River Poker Series Main Event. Our three Day 1's with re-entries drew a total of 1,396 players. Only 141 remain going into Day 2, each of whom are in the money. Leading the way with 785,500 is Matt Newcombe. He is followed by Clint Baker (556,500) and Nathan Gamble (522,500).
A slew of notable players remain, too, and will no doubt be looking to weave their way to the final table. Kurt Jewell (431,000), AP Phahurat (282,500), 2012 Octo-Niner Robert Salaburu (256,000), David "Doc" Sands (239,500), Aaron Massey (192,500), Chris Moneymaker (178,000), and Maria Ho (88,000) are among those still in the field.

Ernie Almario limped from early position and it folded around to James Anderson who raised to 15,000 from the button. Cord Garcia moved a large stack of orange t5,000 chips out from the small blind, three-betting to about 105,000.
Almario replied by four-betting all in for 196,000 and Anderson quickly threw his cards away. Garcia shrugged and announced a call and the hands were turned over

Almario essentially clinched the hand when he flopped a set on the 
flop. The 
turned and the 
rivered, also giving Garcia a set but unfortunately it was too little too late. This was about a 200,000 chip swing that puts Almario around 400,000.

Joe Kuether opened with a raise to 8,000 from early position only to have Cristobal Romano move all in for 58,000 from the button. The small blind folded and Greg Post moved his stack all in as well from the big blind. Kuether folded and Post was at risk as his stack was shorter than Romano's.

flop and Post was looking for a ten to make Broadway and stay alive. Fourth street was the

Kelli Shields shoved in middle position for 37,500 and was called by Daniel Lowery on the button and Matthew Colvin in the small blind.
Both Colvin and Lowery checked down the 
board and Colvin tabled for a rivered set. Shields flashed 
for the flopped set before making her exit.

Daniel Lowery opened with a raise to 10,500 and received a call from Samuel Rosenzweig on the button. 2012 World Series of Poker Octo-Niner Robert Salaburu moved out a three-bet from the small blind to 53,000 and Lowery got rid of his cards.
Rosenzweig took a deep breath and moved all in for 73,000 total and Salaburu called.

After doubling an opponent almost immediately, Cord Garcia has bounced back nicely. He doubled up just before his table broke and just eliminated Kunal Patel with
