The sickest of coolers has sent Steven Kerr to the rail after he ran pocket kings into Paul Scott's pocket aces.
All the chips went in preflop and unfortunately, for Kerr, the board ran out clean and Scott raked in another pot, adding ammo to his already top-stack.
On the river of a board, Gregory Hartiwck asked how much his heads-up opponent, Peter Chien, had remaining. Chien lifted his hand, revealing just over 16,000.
Hartwick fired out a bet of 20,000 and Chien went into the tank. After a moment, Chien slid his stack forward and Hartwick showed him the bad news, tabling for the second nuts. Chien mucked and departed from the tournament floor.
Blanking on their final bullet, Mike Leah, Chanracy Khun, Ruben Perceval, Joseph Leung, and Alyssa MacDonald will not be winning the 2017 CPPT World Cup of Cards.
With about 40,000 in the middle on the river of a board, Michael Malm checked and his opponent shoved for 33,000.
Malm tanked for a few moments before making the call. His opponent tabled and Malm quickly turned over for a pair of eights and scooped the sizeable pot, leaping into the chip lead.
The payout structure has been released for the $400,000 guaranteed CPPT World Cup of Cards. The event attracted 181 entries, falling short of the guarantee but giving all the players in the field a bunch of extra value.
The top 24 places will earn a prize with a min-cash worth $3,600. The eventual champ will bank the top share of $98,000.
