Day 1c Started

Get Ready for Day 1c of the Canadian Poker Championships With $2 Million Guaranteed!

Today is Day 1c of the Canadian Poker Championships at the Playground Poker Club for the third of four starting flights in this massive event with $2 million guaranteed in the prize pool. Cards are in the air at Noon local time in beautiful Kahnawake, Quebec in Canada.

As of now, there have been 336 entries between the first two starting days, which includes direct buy-ins, re-entries and the players that brought their stacks over from the live and online Phase One tournaments. So far there are 202 players heading into Day 2 between the live and online starting flights, but registration is open until the end of Level 12 on Day 2 so there's plenty of time to try and build multiple stacks to take through.

As has been the case for the last two starting flights, players begin with 1,000,000 if they buy in directly, or they start with the stack they carried over from the Phase One tournaments. Registration remains open throughout the day, and there will be a break every two levels, with a dinner break after Level 6. Blinds will be 60-minutes long and players will bag and tag at the end of Level 9.

Day 1d is on Monday at Noon and is a turbo format with 20-minute levels. This will be the last starting flight before Day 2 starts up at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.

As it stands, the biggest stack belongs to Daren Keyes after he racked up a hefty bag of chips worth 7,183,000 last night on Day 1b.

Here is a look at the top ten stacks so far, with a view into which day they bagged chips:

Gagniere Gets Value From One Pair

Level 1 : 1,500/3,000, 3,000 ante

With about 12,000 in the pot, on a board reading {10-Hearts}{9-Clubs}{5-Hearts}, Kelly Cameron checked from the small blind, as did the player in the big blind. Mathieu Gagniere was on the button and bet 7,500. Cameron check-raised to 18,000, the big blind folded and Gagniere called.

The turn was the {k-Clubs} and both players checked to the {4-Spades} on the river. Cameron checked again and Gagniere bet 28,000. Cameron thought for a moment and eventually tossed in a chip to call.

Gagniere tabled {j-Spades}{10-Clubs} for a pair of tens with a jack kicker and Cameron mucked.
