Luke Brabin Leads All-Australian Final 10

Level 18 : 3,000/6,000, 500 ante
Chip leader Luke Brabin
Chip leader Luke Brabin

Day 2 of the opening AU$1,100 No-Limit Hold'em Accumulator event from the 2014 World Series of Poker Asia-Pacific has reached its conclusion. The third and final day of play is just one night's sleep away, and that's the day when someone will be crowned the first gold bracelet winner from Down Under this year. Also awaiting the champion is AU$131,365 in prize money.

The man best positioned to capture the top prize is Luke Brabin. He bagged up 336,000 in chips and will lead the remaining 10 competitors into Day 3. This is an all-Australian final 10, and each player is guaranteed a minimum payday of AU$9,831.

Joining Brabin are Ryan Hong, Stephen Lindeblad, Brian McAllister, Didier Guerin, Kahle Burns, Zane Ly, Daniel Murphy, Piyush Gupta, and David Profaca.

More than 90 players began Day 2, including the big chip leader Scott Clements. Unfortunately for Clements, though, his run fell short of the money. Paul Sharbanee also fell short of the money, and he was the tournament's bubble after busting out in 55th place.

One player hitting a cash was Brandon Shack-Harris, but he could only muster a min-cash. Coming into this event, Shack-Harris led the WSOP Player of the Year race, but that's in the past. George Danzer — the man closely trailing Shack-Harris by less than 10 points — worked his way to a 22nd-place finish in this event and took over the pole position. Other notables to finish in the money were Antonio Esfandiari (45th - AU$2,560), Dan Heimiller (31st - AU$3,159), Julius Colman (25th - AU$4,094), and Jeff Madsen (19th - AU$5,591).

Day 3 will certainly be an exciting day on the felt. Just nine eliminations stand in the way between the crowning of the first gold bracelet winner from the 2014 WSOP Asia-Pacific, and it couldn't be a more exciting time at Crown Casino in Melbourne, Australia.

Andrew Chang Eliminated in 11th Place (AU$9,831)

Level 18 : 3,000/6,000, 500 ante
Andrew Chang
Andrew Chang

After an open raise to 12,000 from Didier Guerin on the button, Andrew Chang moved all in and won the pot without showdown. One hand later, Luke Brabin opened to 12,000 and Chang pushed all in for the second time in a row. Brabin asked to pull in his raise into the pot to determine how much more it was to call and it was 70,000 to go.

Eventually Brabin called and they turned over their cards:

Chang: {K-Hearts} {10-Hearts}
Brabin: {A-Diamonds} {J-Diamonds}

There was some sweat on the {4-Spades} {9-Spades} {7-Clubs} {8-Spades} with the open ended straight draw for the short stack but Brabin held up thanks to the {8-Hearts} on the river. All remaining 10 players are now moved to the unofficial final table and there are 20 minutes left to play in the last level of the day. If we lose one more player prior to that, the chips will be bagged and tagged.

Bruno Portaro Eliminated in 13th Place (AU$8,041)

Level 18 : 3,000/6,000, 500 ante
Bruno Portaro - 13th Place
Bruno Portaro - 13th Place

Bruno Portaro jammed all in on the {9-Spades}{6-Spades}{2-Clubs} flop and was quickly called by Brian McAllister. Portaro was stuck with his hand in the cooking jar, turning over the {7-Spades}{5-Clubs} for a gutshot straight draw. McAllister had flopped top pair, top kicker with the {A-Clubs}{9-Hearts} and would need to hold to earn the elimination.

The turn was the {A-Hearts} and improved McAllister to two pair, but he still just needed to fade an eight.

The river completed the board with the {9-Clubs}, and that was that. McAllister ended with a full house and busted Portaro in 13th place.

Aaron Lim Eliminated in 14th Place (AU$8,041)

Level 18 : 3,000/6,000, 500 ante
Aaron Lim
Aaron Lim

Ryan Hong started the action with a raise and Aaron Lim moved all in for approximately 75,000 in chips. The action was folded back to Hong and he made the call to launch yet another crucial coin flip:

Lim: {A-Hearts} {Q-Diamonds}
Hong: {5-Hearts} {5-Clubs}

The board delivered two pair but Hong's pocket pair was not counterfitted on {3-Clubs} {J-Diamonds} {3-Diamonds} {10-Hearts} {J-Clubs}. Lim dominated the last few levels until he simply ran bad and the 14th-ranked player on the all-time money list for Australia was sent to the rail.

Lindeblad Is Back

Level 17 : 2,000/4,000, 500 ante
Stephen Lindeblad
Stephen Lindeblad

Stephen Lindeblad is back, and he's better than ever now with over 200,000 in chips thanks to quad aces.

First, was all in on the {8-Hearts}{8-Diamonds}{6-Clubs} flop with the {9-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds} against the {Q-Diamonds}{Q-Clubs} for Luke Brabin. The turn was the {6-Hearts} to give Lindeblad a full house, and he stayed in the lead from there after the {10-Clubs} completed the board on the river.

Shortly thereafter, Lindeblad had raised the button to 8,000, and Thomas Gleeson called from the small blind. Aaron Lim was in the big blind and jammed all in, having both players well covered. Lindeblad snap-called for his 96,000, and Gleeson folded.

Lindeblad had the {A-Spades}{A-Clubs}, and Lim had the {K-Diamonds}{J-Diamonds}.

The flop was a big one for Lindeblad, coming down {A-Diamonds}{A-Hearts}{5-Hearts} and giving him quads. Lim would need runner-runner perfect to a royal flush, but the {8-Spades} hit the turn and left him drawing dead. The river completed the board with the {6-Hearts}, and Lindeblad pulled in the pot.

Bobby Zhang Eliminated in 15th Place (AU$8,041)

Level 17 : 2,000/4,000, 500 ante
Bobby Zhang
Bobby Zhang

Ryan Hong opened the action with a raise to 9,000 from the hijack and it got folded around to Bobby Zhang in the big blind. He moved all in and Hong asked for a count before making the call for 55,500 chips in total.

Zhang: {K-Spades} {J-Clubs}
Hong: {A-Clubs} {8-Clubs}

The big stack immediately hit two pair on the {2-Spades} {A-Hearts} {8-Diamonds} flop and they shook hands after the {5-Spades} turn. A meaningless {4-Spades} river completed the board and Hong as well as Zhang exchanged some words still before the latter headed to the payout desk.

James Kinnane Eliminated in 16th Place (AU$6,660)

Level 17 : 2,000/4,000, 500 ante
James Kinnane
James Kinnane

Down to only three big blinds, James Kinnane moved all in and got called by Kahle Burns and Ryan Hong in the two seats over. They checked down the {6-Hearts} {5-Spades} {8-Hearts} {6-Clubs} {6-Diamonds} board and Burns showed {A-Hearts} {Q-Spades}. Hong mucked and Kinnane also threw his {J-Clubs} {10-Clubs} into the muck as well before heading to the payout desk.

Mace Turco Eliminated in 17th Place (AU$6,660)

Level 17 : 2,000/4,000, 500 ante
Mace Turco - 17th Place
Mace Turco - 17th Place

From middle position, Zane Ly raised all in for 36,500. Behind him, Mace Turco went all in for 31,000 from the cutoff seat. James Kinnane then re-jammed from the small blind, and Kahle Burns folded from the big blind.

Ly had the best of it with the {9-Hearts}{9-Clubs}. Turco had the {6-Diamonds}{6-Spades}, and then Kinnane had the {A-Spades}{K-Spades}.

The flop, turn, and river kept Ly in front as the dealer ripped off the {Q-Diamonds}{10-Clubs}{5-Spades}{3-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}, and Turco, the shortest of the three stacks, was eliminated. Kinnane was knocked all the way down to 13,000, while Ly tripled his stack.

Kevin Gan Eliminated in 18th Place (AU$6,660)

Level 17 : 2,000/4,000, 500 ante
Kevin Gan
Kevin Gan

Kahle Burns raised from early position and then quickly called the all in of Kevin Gan for around 40,000 in chips.

Burns: {A-Hearts} {K-Clubs}
Gan: {K-Spades} {Q-Clubs}

There wasn't really any sign of help on the {2-Diamonds} {6-Hearts} {J-Clubs} flop and the {4-Clubs} turn reduced the outs to the three remaining queens in the deck. The dealer fanned the {10-Hearts} as final community card and Gan was gone in 18th place for AU$6,660.

Level 16 : 1,500/3,000, 500 ante
Jeff Madsen - 19th Place
Jeff Madsen - 19th Place

Three-time World Series of Poker gold bracelet winner Jeff Madsen has been eliminated. He moved all in from under the gun for 18,500 and Ryan Hong made the call from the big blind. Madsen had the {A-Hearts}{10-Diamonds}, and Hong had the {J-Hearts}{10-Spades}.

The {K-Diamonds}{Q-Spades}{7-Diamonds}{9-Hearts}{Q-Diamonds} board gave Hong a straight, and he busted Madsen in 19th place.
