Merson Losing Early

Level 1 : 25/50, 0 ante

Greg Merson, winner of the 2012 World Series of Poker Main Event, is in the building here in the AU$2,200 Six-Max No-Limit Hold'em event, but he's been knocked back to 3,500 in chips early.

After winning a small pot with the {A-Hearts}{2-Hearts} on a board of {A-Spades}{8-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds}{K-Diamonds}{K-Clubs}, Merson later raised on the button to 100 and was three-bet to 300 from the player in the small blind. Merson called, and the flop came down {Q-Hearts}{6-Hearts}{2-Spades}. The first player bet 325, and Merson called to see the {Q-Clubs} pair the board on the turn. The first player fired 525 this time, and Merson called.

After the {5-Hearts} completed the board on the river, the player in the small blind bet 1,000. Merson mulled it over, and then called, but lost to his opponent's {A-Hearts}{K-Hearts} for the nut flush. Merson mucked.
