Misaghian Wins Monster

Level 8 : 250/500, 50 ante

Catching the action on the board of {9-Clubs}{8-Clubs}{5-Diamonds}{7-Spades}{10-Diamonds} we found Maz Misaghian checking to Nam Le who moved all in on the river for his last 36,425.

Misaghian then made the call, and after Le sheepishly tabled his {3-Hearts}{3-Diamonds} for a bluff, Misaghian tabled his {A-Hearts}{10-Hearts} for just top pair.

With Le headed to the rail, Misaghian raked in the monster pot to climb to over 90,000 in chips.

Pham Ousts Clements

Level 8 : 250/500, 50 ante

Scott Clements' M.O. here at the WSOP APAC has been to late register events, and this tournament was no exception. Clements jumped into action after the dinner break, but he never got much going.

In what would be his final hand, Clements open-jammed for 8,000 holding the {a-Hearts}{5-Hearts} only to run into the {10-}{10-} of Tien Pham. The board ran out clean and Clements took the long walk out of the tournament area.

The Carnage Continues

Level 8 : 250/500, 50 ante

Two more eliminations just went down over on Table 27, and they occurred in back-to-back hands.

First, Yu Kurita took out Mike Watson with {A-}{9-} holding up against {A-}{7-}. On the next hand, it was Andrew Hinrichsen falling with the {K-Spades}{J-Spades} to Dylan WiIkerson's {A-Hearts}{10-Diamonds}. Both times the money went in preflop and rather uneventful run outs kept the best hand in front.

Tran's Rush Continues

Level 8 : 250/500, 50 ante

Michael Tran opened for 750 from the button only to have the player in the small blind three-bet jam for 7,000. The player in the big blind folded, and Tran thought long and hard before making the call.

Tran: {q-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}
Opponent: {a-Spades}{4-Spades}

The {10-Hearts}{a-Hearts}{3-Clubs} flop paired Tran's ten, but he didn't take the lead as his opponent also flopped a pair. The {9-Clubs} turn meant Tran needed either a queen or ten to eliminate the small blind, and he managed to catch the latter when the {10-Spades} spiked on the river.

Meanwhile, Daniel Buzgon has been eliminated from the tournament.

Hinrichsen Can't Bluff This One

Level 7 : 200/400, 50 ante

Picking up the action on the {10-Clubs}{8-Clubs}{3-Hearts}{J-Diamonds} board during a hand between Yu Kurita, Andrew Hinrichsen, and Dylan Wilkerson, the action was checked by Kurita, and then Hinrichsen bet 3,800. Wilkerson made the call, and Kurita came along as well, and then the dealer completed the board with the {6-Hearts} on the river. After Kurita checked, Hinrichsen fired 7,500. Wilkerson called the bet, but Kurita folded her hand to let the boys battle for the turf.

Hinrichsen showed the {10-Hearts}{4-Hearts} for a pair of tens, but that was no good against Wilkerson's {K-Clubs}{K-Diamonds} for an overpair of kings. Wilkerson collected the pot and moved to over 40,000 in chips.

Shack-Harris Falls

Level 7 : 200/400, 50 ante
Brandon Shack-Harris
Brandon Shack-Harris

Brandon Shack-Harris' run at extended his lead in the WSOP Player of the Year has fallen short in this event after just being eliminated in a preflop clash against two players. It began when Tony Hachem opened to 800 from the cutoff. Shack-Harris made it 1,900 on button, the small blind four-bet to 4,500, and Hachem folded. Shack-Harris called and then called off when the small blind jammed the {3-Hearts}{7-Hearts}{5-Hearts} flop.

Shack-Harris: {J-Spades}{J-Diamonds}
Opponent: {Q-Spades}{Q-Diamonds}

Neither the {6-Clubs} turn nor {10-Diamonds} river connected with Shack-Harris' pocket jacks and he was sent to the rail just a few minutes shy of reaching level eight.

Negreanu is Not the King of this Ward

Level 7 : 200/400, 50 ante
Daniel Negreanu
Daniel Negreanu

We missed the elimination of reigning WSOP APAC Main Event champ Daniel Negreanu, but Jesse Sylvia was kind enough to fill us in on the details.

According to him, Phil Ward opened with a raise and Sylvia called from the button. A short-stacked Negreanu called from the big blind, and three players saw a {2-}{2-}{6-} rainbow flop. Negreanu checked, Ward bet 1,200, and Sylvia called. Negreanu then check-raised all in for roughly 3,000 more, Ward called, and Sylvia got out of the way.

Negreanu: {6-}{10-}
Ward: {j-}{j-}

Negreanu had flopped two pair, but it was no good as Ward held jacks and deuces. Neither the turn nor river help Negreanu, and he was eliminated from the tournament here in Level 7.
