Hellmuth Eyes 14th Bracelet; Politano Aims for Success Before November

Welcome back to our PokerNews coverage of the AU$2,200 Six-Max No-Limit Hold'em event from the 2014 World Series of Poker Asia-Pacific. Today is Day 2 of this tournament, the seventh one of the series, and there are 31 players remaining from the original starting field of 243.

Leading the pack is Alexander Antonios with 138,200 in chips, and he's the only player to finish Day 1 over the century mark. While he may hold the chip lead and be best positioned to make a run at the gold bracelet, all eyes will clearly be on two other players, though.

First, there's 13-time WSOP gold bracelet winner Phil Hellmuth entering Day 2 with 82,500 in chips. He'll be chasing his astonishing 14th piece of WSOP hardware, and there's only 3 players standing between Hellmuth and that accomplishment. One of those players is 2014 WSOP November Niner Bruno Politano, who just so happens to have bagged up the same amount of chips with 82,500. Hellmuth and Politano are tied for fourth on the leaderboard and are prepared to make some big noise.

Unlike the other eight members of the WSOP Main Event final table that will take place in November, Politano is the only one to make the trip Down Under. Prior to this festival, PokerNews' Chad Holloway interviewed Politano about his trip to Melbourne, and the Brazilian stated that he would "be playing a high-level of poker with the best in the world." He's surely shined so far in this event and has the potential to do even more with a deep run.

Other notables remaining include Jesse Sylvia, Tony Hachem, Ami Barer, Van Marcus, and Ashley Mason.

The cards are scheduled to be in the air at 12:30 p.m. local time, and that's when PokerNews will be live from the floor with all of the action. The top 27 spots are set to be paid, which means the money bubble looms, and you won't want to miss a thing.

Schubert Doubles

Level 11 : 500/1,000, 100 ante

Alan Schubert, who began the day with just 6,600 in chips, shoved the first hand of the day, folded, the second, and then was all in again on the third for 7,200 against chip leader Alexander Antonios. Antonios had the {Q-Hearts}{9-Hearts}, and Schubert had the {3-Diamonds}{3-Hearts}.

The flop, turn, and river ran out {J-Clubs}{J-Hearts}{8-Clubs}{4-Diamonds}{2-Spades}, and Schubert doubled up.

Reid the First One Gone On Day 2

Level 11 : 500/1,000, 100 ante

Scott Reid has been eliminated in 31st place to become the first casualty of Day 2. He was all in preflop for his last 10,000 or so with the {4-Diamonds}{4-Spades} against the {A-Clubs}{Q-Spades} for Phil Ward. The board came {K-Hearts}{10-Spades}{9-Spades}{10-Clubs}{9-Diamonds} to counterfeit Reid's pair of fours and give Ward the pot.

Wang Eliminated 30th

Level 11 : 500/1,000, 100 ante

Shortly after Scott Reid became the first to go in 31st place, Henry Wang was eliminated in 30th. He was all in with the {K-Spades}{J-Diamonds} against the {9-Diamonds}{9-Clubs} for reigning Aussie Millions Main Event champion Ami Barer. The flop, turn, and river of {A-Hearts}{7-Diamonds}{6-Spades}{10-Hearts}{6-Clubs} kept Barer's nines in front to send Wang out the door.

Schubert Eliminated; One More Before the Money

Level 11 : 500/1,000, 100 ante

Alan Schubert has been eliminated by chip leader Alexander Antonios. Schubert was all in with the {A-Diamonds}{8-Clubs} to dominate Antonios' {A-Clubs}{7-Spades}. Unfortunately for Schubert, though, the board ran out {10-Clubs}{6-Hearts}{4-Clubs}{6-Clubs}{2-Clubs} to give Antonios the ace-high flush for the win.

Schubert, who began the day as the severe short stack with just 6,600 in chips, was eliminated in 29th place. That means the remaining 28 players are now on the official bubble with the top 27 paying out.

Lee Bubbles As Kings Get Cracked

Level 11 : 500/1,000, 100 ante

Sang Lee was all in for around 30,000 with the {K-Hearts}{K-Diamonds} against Phil Ward's {8-Diamonds}{8-Clubs}. It what started out as a great spot for Lee soon turned bad on the {8-Hearts}{6-Spades}{4-Hearts} flop that gave Ward a set of eights.

The turn was the {A-Hearts}, and that helped Lee a little bit with a flush draw, but the {4-Spades} paired the board on the river and delivered Ward with the winning full house. Lee was eliminated, sending the remaining 27 players into the money.
