Seiver Goes Runner-Runner to Crack Negreanu's Aces

Level 9
Daniel Negreanu
Daniel Negreanu

Pot-Limit Omaha

Daniel Negreanu was all in for around 200,000 against Scott Seiver in a heads-up hand of Pot-Limit Omaha and he brought the selfie stick out.

Daniel Negreanu: AA93 All in
Scott Seiver: AA84

Both players had aces but it looked like Negreanu could freeroll his way to victory as the flop of 2Q7 gave him a flush draw while giving Seiver a whole lot of nothing.

However, the board proceeded to run out 48 and Negreanu gasped in disbelief as he saw Seiver had made runner-runner two pair to mark his elimination. Negreanu rushed to tell Eric Wasserson what had happened and quickly bought back into the event.

Deeb Takes Out Mercier

Level 9

Daniel Negreanu limped the hijack, Shaun Deeb limped the button, and Philip Sternheimer completed from the small blind. In the big blind, Jason Mercier potted to 25,000, Negreanu called, and Deeb called.

On the 955 flop, Mercier led all in for 30,000. Negreanu folded while Deeb quickly called.

Jason Mercier: 8764 All in
Shaun Deeb: 101096

Mercier held a wrap and flush draw against the overpair of Deeb. The 10 turn gave Deeb a full house, but Mercier had one out for a straight flush, which did not come on the 2 river, and Mercier was eliminated.

Mercier reentered shortly after.

Three-Way All In as Mercier Triples and Bleznick Hits the Rail

Level 11

Pot-Limit Omaha

Jared Bleznick opened the hijack to 18,000 and Jason Mercier called in the cutoff. On the button, Nacho Barbero potted to 81,000 and both opponents called.

On the K75 flop, Bleznick led for 10,000. Mercier went deep in the tank with 12,000 behind and opted to call. Barbero then potted, Bleznick called all in for 135,000, and Mercier put in his last 2,000.

Jared Bleznick: 10988 All in
Nacho Barbero: AA95

Surprisingly, Barbero's aces were still in front while Bleznick had a gutshot. However, the 4 landed on the turn and Mercier made a set to take the lead. Mercier filled up on the 5 river and Bleznick hit the rail with Barbero winning the side pot.

"How do I not win there?" questioned Bleznick. "Any six and you guys are dead."

"You have a gutshot, bro," replied Barbero.

"Best Player in the Tournament" Hits the Rail

Level 11
Scott Seiver
Scott Seiver

Recently eliminated player Jared Bleznick walked around the tournament area speaking praise of reigning WSOP Player of the Year Scott Seiver, stating emphatically that he is the "best player in this tournament."

"Because I am," Seiver replied when he overheard the conversation.

But it was unfortunate timing as the praise came right as Seiver was eliminated, meaning the title of best player in the event is now up for grabs.

On the 753 flop, Racener jammed as the slightly covering stack and Moncek called off for 230,000.

Omaha Hi-Lo

As recounted by the table, Aaron Kupin opened preflop and Phil Hellmuth called. Kupin continued on the flop of 893 and called a check-raise from Hellmuth.

Hellmuth bet on the 2 turn and Kupin raised to put the "Poker Brat" all in. Hellmuth called.

Phil Hellmuth: AAxJ10x All in
Aaron Kupin: AK22

Hellmuth had a combo draw but didn't improve as the 9 bricked off on the river to mark his elimination.

He was eliminated right before dinner break, but he had already eaten a sandwich earlier in the event as cameras crowded around to see him take a bite.

Who Runs Better Than Nacho?

Level 14
Nacho Barbero
Nacho Barbero

No-Limit Hold'em

The action folded to Aaron Kupin in the small blind who jammed for 88,000 and Nacho Barbero snapped it off in the big blind.

Aaron Kupin: K6 All in
Nacho Barbero: AK

Barbero was in great shape to score the knockout as the dealer emphatically peeled the QJ10 flop to give Barbero a Royal Flush. The 410 runout was just a formality as Kupin hit the rail in ridiculous fashion.

After complaining about his luck for much of the past hour, Barbero's tablemates were quick to emphasize how lucky he just got. It was Barbero's first career flopped Royal Flush according to the man of the hour.
