Set of Deuces Lets Engel Climb the Chip Counts
Level 24
: Blinds 200,000/400,000, 400,000 ante
Ari Engel opened from the cutoff to 800,000, which was called by the big blind Lou Garza.
The flop came 2♦8♦6♥ and Garza check-called a bet of 650,000 from Engel.
After the Q♠ on the turn, Garza again check-called a bet from Engel, this time for 1,900,000.
The river was the A♦, and after Garza checked, Engel bet enough to cover Garza's stack of 9,400,000. Garza went deep into the tank, using three time extensions before flicking in a chip to call.
Engel turned over 2♠2♥ for a set of deuces. Garza showed AxQx for top two pair before tossing his cards in the muck and leaving the tournament area.
