Thorel Avoids Disaster
Level 12
: Blinds 5,000/10,000, 10,000 ante
Jean-Noel Thorel raised to 25,000 from the cutoff before Vinny Lingham three-bet to 75,000 on the button. It folded back to Thorel, who made the call.
The flop came 4♥3♦2♦, and Thorel check-raised a bet of 100,000 from Lingham to 300,000. Lingham made the call to see the 7♥ on the turn, and both players checked to the A♥ on the river.
Thorel checked once more, as did Lingham, who made a set on the river tabling A♠A♦. Thorel was thrilled to see he avoided disaster after being dealt the ultimate cooler preflop, tossing K♠K♦ in the muck to give Lingham the pot.
