But He Can Play Poker

After a 2X BB pre-flop raise and a call, Phil Hellmuth re-raises another 11,800. He gets one caller.

The flop is the {9-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}{8-Hearts} and both players check. The turn is the {8-Diamonds}. Phil's opponent bets 12K and Phil calls. The river brings the {3-Spades}. The player bets another 12K, Phil calls and Hellmuth turns over K-K for the win.

Back-to-Back Bad Beats

During the last level, John "the Greek" Leontakianakos ran into horrible luck on back-to-back hands against the same opponent.

On the first hand, Leontakianakos flopped a set of aces, but lost to a rivered flush. On the second hand, Leontakianakos flopped a set of kings, but lost to a rivered straight.

Leontakianakos weathered this storm and is still alive with about 70,000 in chips.

The Champ Talks On

The board is {2-Diamonds}{6-Hearts}{Q-Diamonds}{3-Clubs}{10-Clubs} and WSOP Champ Jamie Gold pushes in for his final 42,100. Pramesh Bansi goes into the tank and Jamie says: "If I flopped a pair am I good? You aren't going to call me with Ace King are you?"

Then: "I will show you either way."

Finally Pramesh makes the call and Jamie shows {10-Diamonds}{10-Hearts} for the rivered set.
Pramesh mucks his {A-Diamonds}{Q-Diamonds}.

Jamie is back up to 110K.
