Rutter Attempts To Exit, Fails

Stuart Rutter got his stack in preflop with {A-Diamonds} {Q-Diamonds} against Alexander Roumeliotis' {A-} {K-} and immediately began to pack up his things and walk away from the table.

Flop:

{9-Hearts} {5-Spades} {10-Diamonds}

Rutter Status: Still walking away.

Turn:

{7-Hearts}

Rutter Status: Walking away but turning to look in hope, almost away from table.

River:

{Q-Hearts}

Rutter Status: Surprise and relief, returning to table.

Roumeliotis takes a substantial hit, Rutter back up to about 48,000.

Elliot Smith No Longer With Us

Heading out of the cardroom now was Elliot Smith, and he was doing a slow walk, not the trot poker players use when they have to nip away from the table to the loo etc. His Ace-King fell to a pair of Queens, we were told later, and that too might have gone Phomveha's way (a quick count of that table's chips are now in order).

Skripchenko Makes A Good Call

Mika Paasonen bet 3,500 on a {K-Diamonds} {6-Hearts} {5-Clubs} flop after Almira Skripchenko checked, but the Frenchwoman made the call. Both then checked the {A-Hearts} turn and Skripchenko checked the {A-Clubs} river and Paasonen bet 8,000. Skreipchenko thought for a couple of minutes and made the call.

Passonen tapped the table and showed {9-Clubs} {6-Clubs}, no good vs Skripchenko's {10-Spades} {10-Hearts}.

Sa-Out

Former WSOP Main Event finalist Antoine Saout just got eliminated from the tournament, a simple flip loss with {10-Clubs} {10-Spades} against {A-Clubs} {J-Clubs}. The board {4-Diamonds} {J-Spades} {8-Clubs} {7-Hearts} {K-Diamonds} board brought little more than a sigh from the Frenchman and he departed wordlessly.

Scapula to Accumulate

Another big decision for Antoine Amourette just now, as a threeway flop of {4-Diamonds} {4-Spades} {9-Spades} led to a bet from Francois-Charles Scapula, of 3,100 and a raise from Amourette to 7,600. This got rid of player #3, but Scopula swiftly moved all in. The total amount in Scapula's stack was 42,100, and although he looked at the stacks, the pot, what the call looked like when it was out of his stack etc. he eventually folded. You can never tell with Amourette, though - a long period of consideration could mean a call, fold, or raise is coming next.

Iacob's Ladder

Kevin Eyster
Kevin Eyster

Recent addition to Kevin Eyster's left Iulian Iacob is proving troublesome for the young player. When he flat called a 2,700 preflop raise in the cutoff, Iacob on the button made it 9,500. The initial raiser passed, but Eyster counted out a number of 5k chips and then threw them in: 24,300 the bet now. Iacob, taking his time expressionlessly as per usual, threading his (larger) stack of 5k chips, surprised the table with a 5bet to 59,500. Too rich for his taste, Eyster gave up on it, probably wishing Iacob had just stayed on his starting table.

Should've Called Sunar

Surinder Sunar was all-in and despite getting generous odds of better than 2-1, the other player in the hand was tanking for several minutes before Stuart Rutter put the clock on him. Finally he called with {A-Hearts} {8-Hearts}, far behind Sunar's {10-Clubs} {10-Spades} but the board came {A-Diamonds} {5-Clubs} {2-Diamonds} {7-Clubs} {4-Clubs} and Sunar, who won the WPT here a few years ago, was eliminated as a result.
