Day 3 Started

Welcome To Day 3 of the 2010 WPT Grand Prix de Paris

Our remaining 48 players are just sitting down and opening their bags. Antoine Amourette is the chip leader still with 489,400 just ahead of Iulian Iacob, but Arnaud Mattern and Theo Jorgensen are also still in the mix.

We're not completely clear on what we are playing down to today but we will let you know as soon as we have that news.

In the meantime, shuffle up and deal!

Smirnov Iced

Mikhail Smirnov faced a re-raise preflop from Steven van Zadelhoff which was a stack of pinks big enough to put his tournament life on the line. Having at one time scaled the dizzy heights of the top of the chip standings, he had less than 75k behind after his previous preflop bet, and eventually put it all in.

Smirnov: {J-Hearts} {J-Diamonds}
Van Zadelhoff: {A-Clubs} {A-Diamonds}

Flop: {K-Hearts} {Q-Hearts} {5-Hearts} (it's never easy...)
Turn: {Q-Spades}
River: {7-Spades}

He hit the rail, as did Lasse Ubostad around the same time.

Rutter Cracks Kings

Stuart Rutter got lucky yesterday after he beat Alexander Roumeliotis' {A-} {K-} with {A-} {Q-} catching a Queen on the river.

Today he's started off with another lucky outdraw, he held {A-Diamonds} {K-Diamonds} against Mathieu Bernard's {K-} {K-} and spiked on the {4-Diamonds} {J-Clubs} {8-Clubs} {A-Spades} {2-Hearts} board.

"It's something you need to add to your repertoire!" he laughed.

Bernard actually had less chips than Rutter and was eliminated, Rutter is up to about 70,000

Touil Little Touil Late

Starting the day with over 45k but with the blinds rising to 1k/2k Harry Touil found himself with a stack he got in with {2-} {2-} - only to be looked up by {K-Clubs} {Q-Diamonds} and promptly busted.

The scant detail here is due to a hand on another table developing simultaneously which looked to be an interesting one - Gabriel Nassif raised utg to 3,500, called by Nicolas Babel. On the flop of {2-Clubs} {4-Hearts} {5-Spades} Nassif check-called a bet (c.6k) from Babel, before action rather disappointingly fizzled out as the turn {J-Hearts} and river {6-Hearts} left Nassif showing {10-Diamonds} {10-Spades} and Babel the lesser {9-Clubs} {9-Diamonds}.
