Welcome to Cyprus!

Merit Crystal Cove Hotel-Casino

It's that time of the year again; time for the partypoker World Poker Tour Merit North Cyprus Classic, obviously on the beautiful island of Cyprus.

With big tournaments in Barcelona and Florida just in the books, it's time to play some cards in another sunny location. It's the fourth time the partypoker World Poker Tour visits the Merit Crystal Cove Hotel-Casino in Kyrenia. Back in 2009 Thomas Bichon topped a 181-player field, in 2012 Marvin Rettenmaier was the top dog, and last year Alexey Rybin walked away the biggest winner.

The tournament has a €1,000,000 guaranteed prize pool, and players have the option to enter the event a maximum of four times (1 re-entry per Day (Day 1A & 1B) including the first level of Day 2). WPT Main Event players that have played both Day 1A and Day 1B have the option to choose either their Day 1A or Day 1B stack to bring to Day 2. Late registration and re-entry closes at the end of the first level of Day 2.

Shuffle Up and Deal

Christian Scalzi has just announced the "Shuffle Up and Deal", promising the players information about the amount of levels, and dinner break, later today. The button starts in seat 5, the TDA-rules are used, and "Enjoy your tournament guys" was heard.

Nitsche Not Afraid of the Squeeze

Level 1 : 50/100, 0 ante

Dominik Nitsche opened under the gun to 300, and his next door neighbor made the call. The small blind added 250 as well, but the big blind had larger plans. He squeezed to 900, and all players made the call.

The flop came {K-Hearts}{9-Hearts}{3-Spades}, and the small blind checked to the big blind. The pre flop squeezer made a 1,400 continuation bet, and both Nitsche and his neighbor made the call - the small blind folded.

The {5-Hearts} fell on the turn and the big blind checked. Nitsche bet out 6,000, and both opponents folded.

Chouity Wins with Nines

Level 2 : 75/150, 0 ante

The player under the gun limped, and so did Mikhail Korotkikh in middle position. EPT Monte Carlo winner Nicolas CHouity isolated the limpers with a raise to 500, and both opponents made the call.

{K-Clubs}{2-Hearts}{6-Hearts} on the flop and action checked to Chouity. The Lebanon All Time Money List leader fired an 800 bet, and an instant fold and instant call followed.

Both plawers checked the {7-Spades} on the turn, and the {4-Spades} fell on the river. Korotkikh fired 1,200, and Chouity rolled his eyes once, and reluctantly called. Korotkikh showed {J-Clubs}{2-Clubs} and Chouity rolled over {9-Hearts}{9-Diamonds} for the best hand.
