Tsanev joins the Top Five

Level 8 : 300/600, 75 ante

Dimitry Urbanovich joined the competition in the last half an hour and Nikolay Tsanev is now a contender for the overall chip lead at the end of the day. He defended his big blind against a raise to 1,300 and check-called a bet of 1,300 on the {J-Diamonds} {2-Hearts} {3-Spades} flop. On the {10-Clubs} turn, Tsanev check-raised from 2,800 to 7,100 and called the raise to 16,100 by the opponent.

The {K-Spades} on the river saw Tsanev check-raise all in with the superior stack and his opponent made a crying call with {10-Diamonds} {10-Hearts} only to see the Bulgarian turn over {Q-Hearts} {9-Clubs} for the back door straight.

The last Entry for Today?

Level 8 : 300/600, 75 ante

About 45 minutes remain for level eight and Robert Zipf has just bought in as 181st player for Day 1b.

The bad run of Fabrice Soulier continues, as the Frenchman also busted with his second bullet. "I am not running good lately," he said and still had a smile left before exiting the tournament area.

Melin's Stack is Melted

Level 7 : 250/500, 50 ante
Sinem Melin
Sinem Melin

Sinem Melin was down to less than half starting stack when we last checked her table and a few minutes before the end of level seven, that would be reduced to zero. After a {8-} {10-} {A-} flop, she got the remainder of her stack in with {A-} {J-} and Czerwinski Pawel Kapczynski called with {A-} {K-}. The turn and river bricked and that was it for Melin.

Shortly after, Kapczynski three-bet an open raise of Micah Raskin to 3,200 and then made it 17,000 to go after Sergej Barbarez had four-bet to 8,000. Raskin got out of the way quickly but Barbarez moved all in and that was too much for Kapczynski.

Sanchez Doubles Through Kacpczynski

Level 7 : 250/500, 50 ante

The entire preflop action escaped us but Pawel Kapczynski four-bet to 10,200 and then called the five-bet shove of Manuel Sanchez for 54,525 chips with {Q-Hearts} {Q-Diamonds}. Sanchez was way ahead with {4-Spades} {10-Spades} {9-Spades} flop left the former chip leader only one out. After the {9-Diamonds} turn that at least "improved" to two outs, but the {2-Spades} on the river was a brick.

Bad Beat Story for Kenney

Level 7 : 250/500, 50 ante
Bryn Kenney
Bryn Kenney

Fahredin Mustafov three-bet to 2,900 and Bryn Kenney was on the button and four-bet to 6,725. The Bulgarian big stack now clicked it to 12,000 and called the all in of Kenney for 36,000 with {9-Hearts} {9-Clubs}. Kenney had that dominated with {Q-Diamonds} {Q-Clubs} and started counting his exact stack for the expected double up after the {6-Clubs} {A-Spades} {5-Clubs} {8-Spades} turn.

However, the dealer burned and turned the {7-Clubs} and that gave Mustafov a straight. Kenney glanced over, saw the bad news and shipped over the stack. It was his second bullet and he cannot re-enter anymore.

Kapczynski Captures El Hoss

Level 7 : 250/500, 50 ante
Ghassan El Hoss
Ghassan El Hoss

The player in the big blind wasn't back in his seat yet and Pawel Kapczynski limped from early position. Sinem Melin made it 1,700 to go and Ghassan El Hoss called, the player on the button called and the player in the small blind raised to 9,700. Kapczynski now clicked it back to 18,000 and El Hoss moved all in for 70,000 with pocket fives.

Kapczynski called with pocket kings and there was no upset on the board. El Hoss was seen only minutes later after re-entering with a fresh stack.
