Day 1b Started

Welcome to Day 1B of the 2014 partypoker WPT National Prague

Kara Scott

The second starting day of the €1,800 + €200 partypoker World Poker Tour National Prague at the Corinthia Hotel kicks off at 13:00 CET. A total of eight levels of 60 minutes each will be played and the man to beat from Day 1a in the overall count is Alexander Lakhov with 182,900 chips. Only 24 out of the 47 players advanced to Day 2 and the participation on Day 1b is expected to be by far bigger.

All players that were eliminated on their first bullet on Day 1a can take advantage of the re-entry option and Sam Cohen as well as Joey Weissman already confirmed that they will be back at the tables once again. Furthermore, all players that only start today can re-enter once as well until the end of the day and even the end of level nine on Day 2.

Plenty of familiar faces on the international poker circuit are expected at the tables and they will be joined by the three Europe-Bet online qualifiers Enver Khvitia, Revaz Gujabidze and Irakli Gavasheli. The PokerNews team will be there to cover all good and bad beats on the way to crown another WPT National champion on Sunday.

Among the familiar faces on Day 1b we already have two re-entries from yesterday in Joey Weissman and Alex Goulder. The latter is sitting on a table with fellow Brit Simon Deadman and quite a few of the participants have shown up in Christmas sweaters.

Already More Players than 1a

Level 1 : 50/100, 0 ante

Right now there are 69 players registered for the second starting flight at the Corinthia Hotel and that means the 47 entries from Day 1a are already beaten. The overall number is up to 116 and this will most definitely improve within the next few levels.

The Defending Champion is here

Level 1 : 50/100, 0 ante

It may not necessarily be exactly the same event as Julian Thomas won the WPT Championship event in the Card Casino Prague last year and this time it is a National Event with a buy-in of €1,800 + €200. Nonetheless the German has engraved his name into WPT history and is looking to emerge victorious once again.

Another well known name of the international tournament circuit has been spotted as well: David Vamplew.

Larson Gets One

Level 1 : 50/100, 0 ante

After a raise from under the gun to 225, Alex Goulder called on the button and online qualifier Carla Larson filled up out of the big blind. The {5-Clubs} {7-Diamonds} {10-Hearts} flop was checked to Goulder and he bet 400, which only Larson called. Both then checked the {6-Clubs} on the turn and the {2-Hearts} on the river. Larson turned over {Q-Hearts} {5-Diamonds} and that was good enough to win the pot.

Early Boost for Watts

Level 1 : 50/100, 0 ante

Steve Watts three-bet a raise to 725 and was called by the initial raiser to see the flop of {Q-Diamonds} {8-Hearts} {4-Diamonds}. The Brit fired all three streets and his opponent check-called for 775 on the flop, 1,500 on the {10-Hearts} turn and 3,000 after the {5-Spades} river. Watts turned over {Q-Spades} {8-Spades} and the two pair were good.
