In less than one hour at 13:00 local time, which is 12:00 CET, the first starting day of the €1,800+200 partypoker World Poker Tour National Cyprus Main Event kicks off at the Noah's Ark Deluxe Hotel & Spa. The luxury resort in the north east of Cyprus offers pretty much everything a poker player can ask for to relax after a long day at the tables. A huge gym before the session, an indoor pool and sauna to chill out after. Furthermore, a free buffet with fruits, snacks and sandwiches as well as free soft drinks are also available.
Day 1a is scheduled to play nine levels of 45 minutes each, though this may still be adjusted depending on the number of participants. All participants start with the usual 30,000 in chips and there is no dinner break foreseen at the moment, as bagging and tagging will be around 20:45. Just in time to head to the free and extensive dinner buffet provided by the hosts.
One re-entry per day is allowed and the late registration as well as re-entry period lasts until the end of the third level on Day 2, which is the end of level 12. As such, participants may shoot up to five bullets in total.
Some well known pros of the international poker circuit have already made it to Cyprus such as Dimitar Danchev, Simeon Naydenov, Barny Boatman and Michael "The Grinder" Mizrachi. The PokerNews live reporting is all set up to bring you the most important key situations of the tournament until the winner is crowned next Monday, January 25th 2015.

Quite a few familiar faces already made it to the tournament area and especially the Bulgarians seem to favor Cyprus as perfect destination. Among them is 2013 PCA champion Dimitar Danchev with an impressive $3,556,966 in cashes according to his Hendon Mob profile.

After unknown preflop action, the flop saw a bet of 300 with calls from one opponent as well as Roman Pavliuk before the got checked through by all three players. Joining the action on a flop of , Atanas Kavrakov called a bet of 450 in a four-way pot and the two other opponents including Barny Boatman folded. Half an hour has been played and Dimitar Danchev has been reduced to almost one third of the starting stack. He first folded after a five-bet pot that cost him about 8,000 chips and then dropped some more against Igor Dubinsky's set of fours. Furthermore, Danchev was involved in a three-way pot with pocket queens including the .

Grudi Grudev from Bulgaria and former EPT player of the year, Jan Bendik, are now among the participants of Day 1a. Bendik in fact had just received the 30,000 stack when getting involved in a hand. The Slovakian checked the turn in a heads-up hand and then bet 600 on the river. His opponent called and Bendik's was enough to scoop the pot.
