Iaron Lightbourne Leads 2015 partypoker UK Main Event Final Table

Level 26 : 20,000/40,000, 5,000 ante
Iaron Lightbourne

Eighteen players returned to their seats at the Dusk Till Dawn in Nottingham on Saturday to play the penultimate day of the 2015 partypoker WPT UK Main Event. Those 18 players have been reduced to only six, and they will be led back into battle on Sunday afternoon by Iaron Lightbourne.

Lightbourne goes into the official six-handed WPT final table with 2.9 million in chips in his arsenal and is going to take some stopping. The Londoner's previous two live tournament cashes were a victory in the Unibet Open London Main Event for £70,000 and a runner-up finish in Event 12 of the 2015 World Series of Poker for $283,063. He is now guaranteed at least sixth place in this tournament and would be a worthy champion should he go all the way and claim the title.

Trailing Lightbourne by 245,000 in chips was Sheffield’s Fraser Bellamy, a wily player who tops the all-time money list for tournaments held at Dusk Till Dawn. Bellamy is now set to extend his lead on that list as he is guaranteed at least £40,000 for his efforts here. Ultimately, he could walk away with a cool £200,000 should he become the tournament’s champion.

Neither Lightbourne or Bellamy are going to have it their own way at the final table because they’re joined by a group of four other talented individuals.

Chi Zhang has proven that he can mix it up with the best of them, while Andrew Seden has played a patient, solid game from the moment he entered this £1 million guaranteed event.

Craig McCorkell is vastly experienced and has a WSOP bracelet to his name, while Russell Betts didn’t put a foot wrong all day.

All in all, the final table, which is to be streamed on a 30-minute delay, looks set to be an exciting one.

As mentioned, Day 4 started with 18 players, but the early eliminations of Andrew Hulme, Ben Vinson, and Lukas Dimsa left only two tables of players. They were joined on the rail by Mitchell Johnson, Fuad Serhan, Breixo Gonzalez, Joseph Townsend, Adam Daniel, and Philip Hepburn, with the latter’s exit seeing the remaining nine players sit at the unofficial final table.

From there, Dominic Cullen fell first, and he was followed by Robert Davies in eighth. Davies needs a special mention because he ran horribly throughout the day, running a full house into McCorkell’s bigger full house, splitting a pot when his got his {Q-}{Q-} in versus McCorkell’s {7-}{7-} when the board ran out with a wheel, and then pushed {Q-}{Q-} into {A-}{J-} for another big pot before an ace flopped. It was quite fitting then that his exit saw him commit his stack with the {A-Hearts}{Q-Hearts} and run into the {A-Spades}{A-Clubs}.

The final elimination of the day was that of Billy Chattaway, who ran into some tough spots during Day 4. His exit came when Bellamy raised, Chattaway called on the button, and Lightbourne called in the big blind. The flop fell {8-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds}{3-Hearts}, everyone checked to Chattaway, he pushed all in, and Bellamy called. Chattaway showed the {K-Hearts}{10-Hearts}, Bellamy the {A-Hearts}{6-Hearts}, and when the {7-Hearts} on the turn was followed by the {3-Spades} on the river, it was game over for him.

Play will resume at 2 p.m. GMT on Sunday and will continue until one man has all of the 13.5 million chips in play. Stay tuned to the PokerNews’ Live Reporting pages throughout Sunday to discover who that winner is, as we'll have all of the updates throughout.

Billy Chattaway Eliminated in 7th Place (£34,000)

Billy Chattaway
Billy Chattaway

Billy Chattaway is the unfortunate soul to burst the six-handed final table bubble, finishing in seventh place for £34,000.

Fraser Bellamy raised, Chattaway called on the button and Iaron Lightbourne called in the big blind. The flop fell {8-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds}{3-Hearts}, Lightbourne checked, Bellamy checked and Chattaway pushed all-in for 450,000. Lightbourne folded, but Bellamy called.

Bellamy: {A-Hearts}{6-Hearts}
Chattaway: {K-Hearts}{10-Hearts}

The {7-Hearts} turn was followed by the {3-Spades} river and with that, Chattaway was gone.

Robert Davies Eliminated in 8th Place (£27,500)

Level 25 : 15,000/30,000, 5,000 ante
Robert Davies
Robert Davies

Robert Davies has endured a tough afternoon, one that on any other day would have seen him enter the final table with a substantial chip lead. As it happens, he's bust in eighth place after pushing all-in with {A-Hearts}{Q-Hearts} and running into the {A-Spades}{A-Clubs} of Andrew Seden.

Davies picked up a flush draw on the flop of the {K-Hearts}{6-Spades}{7-Hearts}{2-Clubs}{Q-Clubs} but it wasn't meant to be and the 2015 partypoker WPT UK Main Event is down to its final seven players.

Dominic Cullen Eliminated in 9th Place (£20,450)

Level 25 : 15,000/30,000, 5,000 ante
Dominic Cullen
Dominic Cullen

Dominic Cullen is the first player to fall at the final table, leaving eight players in contention for the title of UK champion.

Iaron Lightbourne opened to 65,000 from early position, the action folded to Cullen in the cutoff and he three-bet to 155,000. Lightbourne called and the dealer put the {J-Spades}{7-Hearts}{10-Hearts} flop onto the felt. Lightbourne checked, Cullen bet 165,000 and Lightbourne check-raised to 400,000, which essentially put Cullen all-in. Cullen then shoved and Lightbourne instnaly called.

Cullen: {A-Hearts}{K-Clubs}
Lightbourne: {J-Diamonds}{J-Clubs}

A set of jacks for Lightbourne versus ace-high for Cullen. The {4-Spades} turn locked up the hand for Lightbourne, with the {10-Clubs} river needlessly improving him to a full house.

Philip Hepburn Eliminated in 10th Place (£14,950)

Philip Hepburn
Philip Hepburn

Philip Hepburn is the 10th place finish after an all-in confrontation with Craig McCorkell didn't go as he would have wished.

McCorkell pushed all-in from the button to put the short stacked blinds under the cosh. Robert Davies folded in the small blind, but Hepburn called from the big blind.

Hepburn turned over {A-Hearts}{9-Hearts} and was flipping against McCorkell's {4-Clubs}{4-Hearts}. Thanks to McCorkell flopping a set, Hepburn was drawing dead by the turn of the {10-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds}{6-Spades}{k-Hearts}{5-Diamonds} board, leaving the final nine players to head to the unofficial final table.

Adam Daniel Eliminated in 11th Place (£14,950)

Level 24 : 12,000/24,000, 4,000 ante

Adam Daniel

Adam Daniel's roller coaster of a day is over, his tournament ending in 11th place.

The chips went into the middle in a blind-versus-blind confrontation with Robert Davies, Daniel holding {4-Clubs}{4-Hearts} and Davies {A-Spades}{8-Hearts}.

Despite calls for a four from Daniel, the {7-Spades}{A-Diamonds}{3-Hearts} flop put Davies way in front and he'd already stood from his chair when the {3-Clubs} landed on the turn. The {Q-Hearts} completed the board, sent Daniel to the sidelines and left only 10 players remaining in their quest to become a WPT champion.

Daniel Trebles; McCorkell and Davies Chop

Level 24 : 12,000/24,000, 4,000 ante
Adam Daniel
Adam Daniel

A massive pot was just played for at the table next to us. It started with an all-in bet of 75,000 from Adam Daniel under the gun and a three-bet to 150,000 from a couple of seats across. Craig McCorkell then made it 286,000 to go from the small blind, only for Robert Davies to move all-in for 644,000. Hepburn folded, but McCorkell called and a huge pot was created.

McCorkell: {7-Diamonds}{7-Hearts}
Davies: {Q-Hearts}{Q-Diamonds}
Daniel: {A-Hearts}{6-Spades}

Davies looked set to pull himself back into the game and was still ahead on the {4-Clubs}{5-Hearts}{2-Hearts} flop. McCorkell called for a six on the turn but it was the {A-Clubs}, which was followed into play by the {3-Spades}, putting a straight on the board, chopping the side pot with McCorkell and Davies and leaving Daniel to win the main pot courtesy of his six.

Joseph Townsend Eliminated in 12th place (£14,950)

Level 24 : 12,000/24,000, 4,000 ante
Joe Townsend
Joe Townsend

Joe Townsend is the 12th place finisher after busting from the main event only a few moments ago.

Townsend opened to 51,000 from the cutoff and called when Chi Zhang three-bet to 151,000 from the small blind. A {5-Clubs}{7-Clubs}{k-Spades} flop was continued on by Zhang who bet 130,000. Townsend responded with an all-in bet of 700,000 and Zhang called without much pause for thought.

Zhang: {A-Diamonds}{K-Clubs}
Townsend: {J-Clubs}{8-Clubs}

Zhang's top pair was ahead, but he needed to fade the flush draw to win the hand. The {9-Spades} turn gave Townsend a few more outs to a straight, but they failed to arrive on the {J-Diamonds} river, which sent Townsend to the rail.

Breixo Gonzalez Eliminated 13th Place (£12,000)

Level 23 : 10,000/20,000, 3,000 ante
Breixo Gonzalez
Breixo Gonzalez

Breixo Gonzalez's third all-in bet in one orbit was called by Iaron Lightbourne in the cutoff.

Gonzalez revealed the {A-Spades}{2-Clubs} and Lightbourne the dominating {A-Hearts}{8-Hearts}. Lightbourne went further in front with the arrival of the {3-Spades}{8-Spades}{9-Clubs} flop, although Gonzalez could hit running spades to stay in the tournament. The {K-Hearts} put paid to those ideas and when the {Q-Diamonds} rolled off of the river the tournament was left with only 12 players in the hunt for the £200,000 first place prize.

Fuad Serhan Eliminated in 14th Place (£12,000)

Level 23 : 10,000/20,000, 3,000 ante
Fuad Serhan
Fuad Serhan

We said that Billy Chattaway can seemingly do no wrong and we look to be correct in that assumption judging by the following hand.

Fuad Serhan opened from the cutoff for 50,000. The action then folded to Billy Chattaway in the big blind, and he moved all-in; Serhan snap-called.

Serhan's speedy call was due to him holding {A-Diamonds}{A-Spades}, a far superior hand to the {K-Clubs}{Q-Clubs} of Chattaway. However, a final board reading {10-Spades}{6-Clubs}{3-Clubs}{8-Clubs}{Q-Clubs} saw Chattaway hit running clubs to improve to an aces-crushing flush and Serhan fell in 14th place.
