Peters Sends van Morckhoven to the Rail

Level 7 : 250/500, 50 ante

In one of the last few hands before the break, Tobias Peters sent Roland van Morckhoven to the rail. The Dutchman had flopped a set of fives and raised the continuation bet of his opponent from 2,600 to 6,200 before calling the all in. Van Morckhoven committed his last chips with {5-} {7-} for a pair of fives only and was out of the door two blanks later.

Sperling Short

Level 7 : 250/500, 50 ante

After a preflop rising war, the short stack next to Fabio Sperling was all in and the German moved all in over the top to send all other players out of the hand. Sperling's {8-Diamonds} {8-Hearts} couldn't get there against {J-Hearts} {J-Diamonds} on a board of {2-Hearts} {4-Spades} {3-Spades} {2-Spades} {7-Spades} and the German is now really short.

Below are some further chip counts of the secondary tournament area.

"If you shove, I fold"

Level 7 : 250/500, 75 ante

Candido Goncalves raised to 1,100 and Omar Lakhdari three-bet to 2,500 from one seat over. In French, Lakhdari said to his opponent "If you shove, I fold" but Goncalves called instead to see the flop of {6-Diamonds} {5-Clubs} {8-Spades}. Goncalves check-called a bet of 2,000 and the {2-Clubs} turn got checked through. The {7-Spades} river saw a bet of 4,500 by Goncalves and Lahkdari folded, getting shown the {9-Spades} for a straight. "Is that good enough? I guess it wins" Goncalves joked back just to rub it in.

Deuces Never Loses

Level 7 : 250/500, 75 ante

After a three-way flop of {3-Diamonds} {K-Clubs} {4-Hearts}, Adam Owen bet 600 and was called by initial preflop aggressor Karim Benamrouche, the player in the small blind folded. The {4-Spades} turn and {5-Spades} river both got checked through and the Brit announced queen-high. Benamrouche turned over {2-Spades} {2-Diamonds} and scooped the pot.

One hand later, Benamrouche raised to 1,500 and was called by three opponents including Mohamed Mamouni. On the {6-Clubs} {3-Diamonds} {A-Hearts} flop only Mamouni called a bet of 1,500 by Benamrouche before the two of them checked the {4-Hearts} on the turn. Mamouni then made it 5,050 to go after Benamrouche had checked the {8-Spades} river and was eventually paid off, scooping the pot with {5-Spades} {7-Clubs} for the nut straight.

While Benamrouche dropped some chips on the second hand, he is still among the biggest stacks right now.

Bosmans Catches Semi-Bluff

Level 7 : 250/500, 75 ante

Pieter Bosmans raised to 1,250 preflop and was called by Bart Lybaert in the big blind. Both players checked the {J-Hearts} {8-Clubs} {J-Diamonds} flop before Lybaert bet the {2-Hearts} turn for 2,000. Bosmans made the call and Lybaert wasn't willing to fire again after the {4-Spades} river. His {Q-Hearts} {9-Hearts} was no good in showdown, as Bosmans had that beat with {A-Clubs} {3-Spades}.

Oops

Level 7 : 250/500, 75 ante

After the river of a {6-Spades} {A-Diamonds} {9-Clubs} {4-Hearts} {2-Hearts} board, Carlos Lopes moved all in for 13,500 chips into a pot of 16,000 and was snap-called by Jan Brandejs. Lopes was still listening to music and didn't hear at first that he had been caught before flipping over his {3-Hearts} {3-Diamonds}. Brandejs turned over the {A-Hearts} {A-Clubs} and Lopes was sent to the rail.

He can now play the Satellite to get into Day 1b for less than the full buy in.

Neuville on the Rise

Level 8 : 300/600, 75 ante

Table 12 has been moved into the main tournament area and still features an explosive mix. Pierre Neuville has recovered nicely and scooped the blinds and antes with a raise to 1,700. Shortly after, Candido Goncalves limped and so did Neuville. The action went to Giacomo Fundaro in the blinds and his huge raise to 6,500 shut down all further action.
