At the end of level nine the registration for Day 1a will officially close. One of the latest entries to the field was Guy Goosens, who already jumped in before dinner break but was spotted just now.
After a raise to 1,700 and a call, a reraise to 4,100 was announced and Kamel Djemai then four-bet to 17,700, which only Stephan Hussin called and already exposed his cards. Hussin was unaware that Djemai still had chips behind and floor was called. His hand was ruled as still active but he would receive a one round penalty afterwards for exposing his cards.
The flop came and Hussin bet 15,000. Djemai moved all in for 19,700 and was called by Hussin with the . Djemai turned over ]Kh] and scored the double up after turn and bricked out.
A short stack doubled through Erwann Pecheux and former big stack Firat Baltaci has also taken a hit.
Bert Geens as well as Jozsef Szabo however are now on six digits and lead the field into level 10. The Belgian even late-registered according to his twitter feed:
After a raise to 1,800 preflop, three players called and Jörg Peisert checked out of the blinds to see a flop of . Mohamed Mamouni bet, Michel Leibgorin raised and Peisert reraised to 17,900. Maouni now moved all in and Leibgorin folded, claiming in chat he had a straight and flush draw. Peisert called with for bottom two pair and Maouni held the .
The turn changed nothing, but Mamouni let out a loud "YESSSS YESSSS YESSSS" when the fell on the river, giving him the nut flush.
In a battle of the blinds, Brian Benhamou raised and was called by his opponent from one seat over. Benhamou made a continuation bet on a flop of and the remainder of his short stack went in after a turn. The Frenchman had for an open ended straight draw whereas his opponent's held up after a brick on the river.
After a raise to 2,500, Patrick van den Dries shoved from the button for 21,100. Mohamed Mamouni decided to call from the small blind and the initial raiser folded. van den Dries won the flip with versus on a board of .
Oussama Zouitene limped from the cutoff and Jonas Lauck called in the small blind, Bert Geens checked his option in the big blind. On a flop of , Lauck check-raised from 2,600 to 7,500 and called the shove of Zouitene with . His opponent held but was drawing dead after the turn already. A meaningless river completed the board and Zouitene wasn't too happy about the way the hand played out.
Martin Mulsow won his entry to the Main Event in yesterday's Satellite and was down all the way to 9,000 after slowly but surely climbing up again. The German beer passionate is now up to almost starting stack again and faces stiff competition from Erwann Pecheux one seat over.
Tournament staff has confirmed that there were 144 entries for the first starting day. For tomorrow's day 1b, around 250 players are expected including some of those familiar faces than were eliminated today.
