Almost Set for Day 2

Welcome back to Harrah's Resort and Casino in Atlantic City, New Jersey for PokerNews' continuing coverage of the World Series of Poker Circuit. Our event began just over 24 hours ago with 179 hopefuls vying for the title, the money, and the gold ring. Only 35 of those original entrants are still in the running for the championship, and only about half of those will earn a payday today.

Bill Gazes stormed to the chip lead during the last half of Day 1, finishing up with a staggering 336,700 chips. Quite a step from the 20,000 he began with. There are a few contenders hot on his heels though, and it's still anyone's game with two full days of poker remaining.

Play will be underway in a little more than a half hour -- at 2:00pm local time (EDT). So stretch your legs, grab a snack, and follow along with us as we play down to our final table!

Dan Shak Out

On a {J-Clubs} {Q-Diamonds} {6-Diamonds} board, Dan Shak shoved for 22,500 with {J-Diamonds} {8-Spades} and was called by big stack Allen Bari with {A-Spades} {K-Diamonds}. The {K-Spades} turn put Bari in the lead and the {2-Clubs} river did not help Shak who is out in 34th place.

Allen Bari now has about 280,000.

Andrew Lee Doubles Via Brock Parker and Vice Versa

Andrew Lee's {A-Clubs} {3-Diamonds} just defeated Brock Parker's {A-Diamonds} {10-Hearts} in an all in preflop situation when the board ran out {K-Diamonds} {2-Diamonds} {4-Spades} {3-Spades} {K-Spades}. Lee doubles to about 97,000 while Parker dips down to about 30,000.

A few hands later, Parker was all in with {A-Hearts} {6-Spades} against Lee's {A-Spades} {J-Clubs} and Brock won the hand as the board came {8-Spades} {8-Clubs} {5-Hearts} {6-Clubs} {7-Clubs} to get back to around 65,000. Lee slips back down to 60,000.

Quick Pause

The clock has been paused here at the end of the level while the black/brown T100 chips are raced off and colored up. We expect to resume in about 10 minutes time.
