Dean Hamrick Doubles Through Kevin Saul

Before the break, on a board reading {10-Diamonds} {8-Diamonds} {6-Hearts}, Dean Hamrick led out for 7,200. Kevin Saul then popped it up to 21,000. Hamrick quickly called all in for his last 20,400 and turned over {A-Hearts} {A-Diamonds}. Saul showed {7-Spades} {7-Hearts} and needed help. He found none as the turn and river came {8-Hearts} and {10-Spades}.

Hamrick is now sitting on a stack of 72,000 while Saul has dipped to under 10,000.

Less Than Half

There has been much attrition this level, and we're down to 77 players, less than half the starting field. Less than four hours of play remain in Day 1.

TD Steve Frazer has indicated we may come back at 2 p.m. for Day 2 rather than 12 p.m. Stay tuned!

Perry Ernest Eliminated

Preliminary event winner Perry Ernest was eliminated after he moved all in on the river and was called by Nick Jivkov. The board read {5-Diamonds} {10-Spades} {8-Spades} {Q-Clubs} {K-Spades}.

Ernest showed {A-Clubs} {10-Diamonds} while Jivkov bested him with {K-Hearts} {10-Hearts}. Jivkov is now at 118,000.

Selling His Saul

Kevin Saul raises to 2,200 on the button and the big blind calls.

The flop is {K-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds}{5-Hearts} and the big blind bets 2,000. Saul raises to 5,500 with 7,000 behind. The opponent goes all in after getting a count and Saul insta-folds. He's only got 6,900 left after anteing the next hand.
