Deeb v. Pilgrim: Round One

Shaun Deeb and Dwyte Pilgrim have been engaged in a good-natured verbal tussle over on Table 51, and we knew it was only a matter of time before the two tangled in a pot.

Shaun Deeb started things off with a raise to 2,100 from early position. Action folded around to Dwyte Pilgrim, and he reraised to 3,400. It quickly passed back to Deeb, and he wondered aloud, "Is that even a legal amount?"

"Come on, Shaun," said Pilgrim with a big smile. "You know I got this. At least give me the credit that I know how to raise, man!" Deeb laughed it off and made the call.

The flop showed up {9-Diamonds} {6-Clubs} {Q-Diamonds}. Deeb checked, and Pilgrim continued out with a bet of 2,500, which was quickly called.

The turn came the {8-Diamonds}. Deeb again check-called a bet, this time 5,800. The river brought the {5-Spades}. Deeb checked, and Pilgrim fired out the same 5,800-chip bet. Deeb looked a bit puzzled, but he opted to call, splashing the chips into the pot.

"I got a pretty weak hand," said Pilgrim, tabling {10-Diamonds} {10-Spades}.

"Actually, that's a pretty nice value bet," commended Deeb, slipping his cards into the muck. With that confrontation, a few chips change hands, and Round 1 goes to Pilgrim. It's pretty apparent that this won't be the last time these two men tangle heads up.
