Day 2 Started

Day 2 Dawns

From our record-breaking field of 872 runners, just 162 of them survived to see this second day break at the WSOP-C Hammond, Indiana.

It's unknown quantity Jim Kasputis who leads the way, his count of 360,000 putting him more than 50,000 ahead of his nearest rivals. From the pro side, Aaron "NDGrinder" Steury finished up in the top ten in chips, and on-and-off chip leader Allen Bari is within striking distance as well.

We're scheduled for ten one-hour levels today, which should take us close to 2 a.m. by the time it's all over with. The money bubble will burst when we drop to 90 players. The staff would love to reach the final table today, but that's just not a reality, unfortunately. The math tells us we should have about 25 players left when the chip bags come out, and it's going to be a long two-day stretch from here to the crowning of our champion.

This moving day kicks off in just about 15 minutes, so don't wander off on us. We'll be back with the shuffle up and deal.

Accidents Happen

We're going to delay the start of Day 2 by fifteen minutes to begin at 1:15 p.m (or so). Apparently, there is a major accident on the Skyway between here and Chicago, where a number of the players are staying. There are a lot of empty seats right now, and the staff has decided to push the start time back to give the traffic warriors a chance to make it into town.

We'll be back at 1:15 then, but look for the seat draw to be posted here in the meantime.

Paras Runs Out of Chips

Nickolas Paras was all in before the flop for his last 22,500 chips. He held {A-Hearts} {K-Diamonds}, and he was put to the test by Amer Mansor who held the slightly covering stack. "Please have ace-queen!" Paras said. But Mansor turned up {10-Clubs} {10-Hearts}, racing for the knockout.

"Come on, ace please!" Paras instructed the dealer. But his pleas fell on deaf ears. The board ran {J-Clubs} {8-Hearts} {6-Clubs} {4-Clubs} {2-Hearts}, and that's an early end to Paras' day.

Howell Eliminated

Rajko Bozic limped in from under the gun and action folded to the button. He also limped in before the small blind completed. Natalja Howell moved all in from the big blind for about 30,000. Bozic reraised and that knocked out the button and small blind.

Bozic: {A-Hearts}{J-Hearts}
Howell: {8-Diamonds}{8-Spades}

The board ran out {6-Spades}{5-Spades}{3-Diamonds}{J-Spades}{9-Diamonds} and Howell hit the rail.

Bozic Cruisin' Early

After Dmitry Rudin raised to 8,000 from middle position, Rajko Bozic reraised to 25,000 from the cutoff seat. Everyone folded, including Rudin, and Bozic won the pot. He's been off to a great start here on Day 2 and is up to about 350,000 in chips.

Aces Versus Kings Everywhere

David Cunningham was all in for 70,000 with the {A-Diamonds}{A-Spades}. He was called by Tomislav Susnjara and his {K-Clubs}{K-Diamonds}. After the board ran out {Q-Spades}{6-Clubs}{2-Clubs}{4-Spades}{9-Hearts}, Cunningham doubled up with a few cheers and a fist pump. Susnjara was left with 24,000.

On the adjacent table, another similar all-in situation went down. Patrick Fogleman ran his {K-Hearts}{K-Clubs} into Nick Jivkov's {A-Diamonds}{A-Clubs} preflop. Fogleman raised to 8,000 and Jovkov reraised all in for 62,000. Fogleman called and saw the bad news. The final board was {4-Diamonds}{4-Spades}{3-Clubs}{7-Clubs}{2-Clubs} and Fogleman was left with 64,000 in chips.
