As is often the case, we've noticed a few more notables hidden among the ocean of tables. Matt Kirby, Jake Toole, Kyle Cartwright, and Shiva Dudani are some of the young guns we've recently spotted. The room is gigantic, so we're sure there are still a few familiar faces in the field we've yet to locate.
With Level 3 down, the players will be taking their first break of the day. From what we've been told, the players will be breaking for 30 minutes after every three levels, with the dinner break falling close to 7 PM.
We've been trying to catch Chad Brown in a significant pot all day, but are coming up dry. We recently watched him raise to 700 on the button after a player in middle position limp, only to have both the blinds and the limper fold.
While he may not be playing monster pots quite yet, Brown is slowly building a stack. He is up to 26,000.
The tournament clock now reads 906 players for today's event. Late registration is open up until the dinner break, so that number ought to increase even more. Pretty impressive considering this same event last year got 872 entrants total. No matter the turnout for tomorrow's Day 1b, the Hammond Main Event has already proven to be bigger and better!
Jennifer Parrish is in the field today and is sitting below the starting stack. Parrish finished in 14th place at the WSOPC Southern Indiana Main Event mostly due to her short stack play. When the field was trimmed to three tables she never rose above ten big blinds and was forced all in on the blinds a couple of times, only to keep surviving. It's notable that she's doing all this while seven months pregnant.
