Hao's a Hero

Hao Le is a hero.
Hao Le is a hero.

Danny Rohde opened to 50,000 from the cutoff seat, Hao Le called on the button, and Larry Riggs called out of the small blind. Manh Nguyen decided to raise the stakes, three-betting to 200,000 out of the big blind. Only Le called.

The flop fell {4-Clubs}{7-Spades}{k-Diamonds}, and Nguyen tanked before sliding out 240,000. After a minute of deliberation, Le called.

The turn was the {5-Clubs}, and again Nguyen fired. This time he slid out two towers of purple T10,000 chips, making it 400,000. Le thought for over two minutes, then abruptly stabbed two stacks of 100,000 chips into the pot.

The {3-Diamonds} completed the board, and Nguyen tanked for almost five minutes before moving all in for effectively 943,000. Le went deep into the tank, thinking the decision over for more than ten minutes. He sat motionlessly, then eventually put his hands on his head, ran his hands through his hair, and said, "Give me one more more."

True to his word, no more than 60 seconds later he made the call.

"Good call," Nguyen announced. "Ace-high."

Nguyen showed {a-Spades}{10-Hearts} for the bluff, and Le turned over {8-Hearts}{7-Hearts} for a pair of eights! The massive pot was pushed towards Le, who is now our commanding chip leader.
