Beasley Bests Massey

Mike Beasley opened for 500, Aaron Massey called behind him and the big blind called as well. The flop hit {A-Clubs} {5-Clubs} {5-}, the big blind checked, Beasley checked and Massey bet 625. The big blind called and Beasley raised to 1,700. Massey raised to 4,100, the big blind folded and Beasley made it 8,000.

Massey snap-folded and showed pocket threes. Beasley showed pocket jacks as he collected the pot.

Jamshidi Flushed Away

Sirous Jamshidi limped from under the gun, a player in middle position followed suit, the small blind completed, and the big blind checked his option. The flop came down {j-Hearts}{3-Clubs}{4-Hearts}, and the action checked to Jamshidi who tossed out 775. Only the player in the big blind called.

Both players checked after the {7-Diamonds} turned, and the {3-Hearts} completed the board. The player in the big blind led for 1,425, and Jamshidi quickly called. The player opened up {k-Hearts}{6-Hearts} for a king-high flush, and Jamshidi unhappily mucked his hand.

Musumeci Beat by a "Straight"

Level 4 : 100/200, 0 ante

Amanda Musumeci

Amanda Musumeci was nearly the last woman standing in the 2011 World Series of Poker Main Event, finishing 62nd, and the Philadelphia native is in the field today. She's off to a rough start however.

In a recent hand, the board read {j-Spades}{2-Spades}{7-Spades}{8-Diamonds}{10-Clubs}. An elderly gentleman led out for 5,000, another player folded, and Musumeci made the call.

"Straight," the player said with confidence, turning over {10-Spades}{9-Spades}.

That's actually a flush for everybody scoring at home.

Musumeci gave a bit of a laugh before mucking her hand. She's now below the 10,000-chip mark.
