Table of Death

Level 21 : 5,000/10,000, 1,000 ante

Normally when we have a table of death, it means that the players at the table are especially skilled compared to other around the room.

This time we mean it a bit differently. Of the first eight players knocked out since the table redraw, five were original members of Table 2 and sixth was moved there before getting knocked out. Further, Kenny Smith was our 19th place finisher and he was also an original member of this table.

The only players to survive the whole way through were Stan Combs, Luis Reyes and Waseem Karim. Details about Smith's exit will follow shortly.

Castore Rivers Smith Out of the Tournament

WIth the fast action it's been hard to catch each elimination as the hand unfolds. We found Robert Castoire and Kenny Smith with a 200,000 pot and a board reading {2-Spades} {Q-Hearts} {J-Spades} {K-Clubs}. Smith moved all in for 128,000 and Castoire took some time to think.

"I think I have enough outs to call," Castoire said and put in chips to call.

Smith: {A-Hearts} {J-Diamonds}
Castoire: {A-Spades} {8-Spades}

And just like that the river fell {7-Spades} making Castoire's flush and eliminating Smith from the tournament.

Two Tables, Three Eliminations, Five Minutes

The final 18 players were moved to two tables. We're not sure if cocktail servers spiked their drinks but no sooner did we get the seat draw three players were eliminated in short order.

Stan Combs held {K-} {8-} on a board that read {7-Hearts} {8-Diamonds} {8-Hearts} {3-Diamonds} and David Hengen called his all in holding {A-Diamonds} {9-Diamonds}. The river brought the {6-Diamonds} and Combs' day was done.

Donovan Darland eliminated Charles Kramer in unknown action.

Then Tommy Cronin was eliminated by Robert Castoire when his {K-Hearts} {K-Spades} hit a two-outer on the river. Cronin had {A-Diamonds} {10-Diamonds} and the board was {5-Diamonds} {8-Diamonds} {A-Hearts} {5-Clubs} when he shoved. Then the {K-Diamonds} fell on the river to beat Cronin's flush with a full house.

Short Stacked Parrish Triples Up

Level 21 : 5,000/10,000, 1,000 ante

Khang Luu limped from middle position and action passed to Jennifer Parrish in the small blind. She moved all in for her remaining 36,000. Mark "Pegasus" Smith called from the big blind and Luu called as well.

Smith and Luu checked it all the way the down and the board read {9-Diamonds} {6-Spades} {7-Clubs} {A-Clubs} {Q-Clubs}. Parrish announced, "Ship it," and tabled {A-Hearts} {Q-Hearts}.

Smith and Luu both mucked and Parrish is up to 110,000.

Smith Takes a Big One

From middle position, Mark "Pegasus" Smith raised to 35,000 before Robert Castoire raised to 100,000 out of the small blind. Without much hesitation, Smith made the call.

The flop was {a-Hearts}{q-Hearts}{9-Hearts} and it was checked twice. The turn was the {9-Clubs} and Castoire bet 100,000 this time and again, Smith quickly called.

The river was the {4-Diamonds} which both players checked. Castoire showed {j-Hearts}{j-} while Smith shipped the pot with his {a-Spades}{8-Spades}. Castoire is still strong though having accumulated a large number of chips over the last couple of orbits.

Nguyen Ships River To Scoop Pot

Luis Reyes limped under the gun and Thang Nguyen raised to 27,000 from middle position. Both Donovan Darland, in the big blind position, and Reyes made the call to see the {j-Hearts}{9-Clubs}{7-Spades} flop. Darland called while Reyes bet 38,000. Nguyen double-checked his cards and made the call. Darland folded.

The turn was the {3-Hearts} and this time Reyes led for 56,000. Nguyen contemplated for a bit before making the call. On the river {a-Hearts}, Reyes bet 73,000. Nguyen counted out the chips before announcing that he was all in for 93,000 more. Reyes pulled out the chips from his stack, thought for a minute or two but ultimately laid down his hand.
