Break Time

Level 9 : 400/800, 100 ante

The players are taking their last break of the evening. Upon returning the field will play three more levels before bagging and tagging.

Friedlander Departs

Level 9 : 400/800, 100 ante

We didn't catch the action, but we can confirm that Gary Friedlander, who took second here last year in the $10,000 Regional Championship to A.J. Jejelowo for $145,422, was recently eliminated from the tournament. It happened when he flopped an open-ended straight draw and couldn't get there against his opponent's set.

Nguyen Survives

Level 9 : 400/800, 100 ante
Huy Nguyen
Huy Nguyen

With 2,600 in the pot and a board reading {Q-Spades}{9-Clubs}{7-Spades}{K-Clubs}, an unknown player in middle position checked to a short-stacked Huy Nguyen. The latter put out a bet of 700, leaving just 3,000 behind, and his opponent called. When the {J-Clubs} peeled off on the river, the MP player led out for 2,500, putting Nguyen to the test. It took about a minute before the man from Norman, Oklahoma made the call, and he was rewarded as his {K-Hearts}{Q-Diamonds} was good against his opponent's {A-Clubs}{7-Diamonds}.

Nguyen needs to keep the ball rolling as his stack is just 9K, less than half the starting stack.

Five Players, Eight Bets, No Cards

Level 9 : 400/800, 100 ante

The hand began with an early position limper, an older gentlemen raised to 625, Andrew Rothfeld called, WIlliam Criego called from the button and Senovio Ramirez raised from the small blind to 2,500.

The original limper folded, along with the older gentlemen and Rothfeld called. Criego then moved all in from the button, Ramirez folded after some thought and Rothfeld shook his head and mucked his cards.

Weinman Benefits from River Counterfeit

Level 9 : 400/800, 100 ante

With 7,000 in the pot and a board reading {5-Hearts}{10-Spades}{4-Clubs}{A-Diamonds}, Daniel Weinman checked from the big blind and faced a bet of 3,000 from an unknown player in the hijack. Weinman thought for a few moments before putting in a check-raise to 8,600, which his opponent called.

When the {A-Spades} peeled off on the river, Weinman hesitated before checking, and the hijack did the same. "Ten," Weinman announced before showing {10-Clubs}{9-Clubs}. The hijack was left shaking his head as his {5-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds} two pair was counterfeited on the river.

Adams Makes a Boat

Level 9 : 400/800, 100 ante

We found Cory Burbick, Kirk Adams and another player at a flop of {K-Hearts} {4-Diamonds} {5-Diamonds}. The unknown player checked, Adams bet 2,700, Burbick folded and the unknown player raised to 7,000. Adams played back at him, making it 27,000 to go. The unknown player moved all in and Adams called.

Adams: {K-Spades} {K-Clubs}
Player: {K-Diamonds} {J-Diamonds}

The board completed {7-Diamonds} {5-Clubs} and Adams' full house beat the flush.
