We've been trying to catch any action/hands, but there's been a lull as of late; however, we did find a new face in the crowd . . . Michael "Carwash" Schneider. He earned his nickname because of a business that he owns and is a veteran of the WSOP Circuit. Definitely somebody we'll be keeping an eye on here on Day 1b.
We happened upon this hand on the turn with chips all over the table. The board read
and the best we can put together is Scott Davies bet enough to put the five seat all in, the five seat called and Rich Jackson called.
Davies:

Five Seat:

Jackson:

Davies had two sets beat with his straight and only had one more card to fade. Any card that would pair the board would lose it for him but they whiffed when it fell
. Davies chipped up to 61,000 after that pot.
A player in middle position opened for 400 and received calls from "Cowboy" John Land in the small blind and the player in the big. When the flop fell

, it went check-check to MP and he bet 900. Both his opponents called and then Land fired out 1,900 on the
turn.
The big blind made the call while the MP player got out of the way, bringing about the
river. This time Land checked and the big blind followed suit. Land rolled over
for a pair of eights and a missed flush draw.
"Where the clubs at?" the big blind lamented as he showed the losing
. With that, Land is up to 26,000.
We found A.J. Jejelowo in a hand with an opponent that he has apparently been owning all evening. They were at the turn with the board reading
. Jejelowo called a bet of 1,350 to see the river come
. His opponent checked and Jejelowo put out enough chips to put his opponent all in.
His unknown opponent couldn't fold fast enough and carried on about how Jejelowo was going to bust everyone at the table.
Three levels are down here on Day 1b, which means it's time for our first 15-minute break.

Eight of Harrah's New Orleans 12 ring events are in the books, which means there are just a few events left to score some points. One man who scored 50 points here in the Big Easy, in his first WSOP Circuit event nonetheless, was Alex Foxen, who took down Event #6. Once again, here's Nolan Dalla to tell us the tale:
The sixth gold ring event on the Harrah’s New Orleans series was completed today. Victory in the Six-Handed No-Limit Hold’em competition went to Circuit newcomer Alex Foxen, a full-time college student from Cold Springs Harbor, NY. Proving that it’s never too late to jump into the nation’s premier poker tour, he collected a nice cash prize totaling $22,421. Foxen was also presented with one of the coveted WSOP Circuit gold rings – his first.
Although he’s new to live tournament poker, Foxen is certainly used to the pressure of competing at a high level. He is a college football player for Boston College. Foxen is a junior tight end. His stats are listed as 6’ 4” and 245 pounds. Indeed, Foxen towered over everyone in this tournament.
Incredibly, this was the first WSOP-related event Foxen has played. So, his record is perfect – at least for now.

Action folded to Huy Nguyen in the hijack and he opened for 450. The big blind decided to defend and it was heads-up action to the

flop, which both players checked. The big blind then checked the
turn and Nguyen, who re-entered the Main after busting Day 1a, put out a bet of 525. The big blind coyly showed
before sending his cards to the muck.
Despite that win, Nguyen is still facing an uphill battle as he is sitting with just 10,700.
