Chris Hyden

Chris Hyden opened to 60,000 from middle position, and the action folded to David Grandieri, who defended his big blind. The dealer fanned {10-Spades}{q-Clubs}{7-Hearts}, Grandieri checked, and Hyden continued for 75,000. Grandieri tank-called.

The turn was a repeat seven - the {7-Clubs} - and Grandieri checked again. Hyden fired a second bullet worth 130,000, and Grandieri called again.

The {4-Hearts} completed the board, and Grandieri checked a third and final time. Hyden tanked for the better part of 30 seconds, then announced that he was all in. The bet was for 500,000 exactly, and Grandieri reached for blue T100,000 chips, tossing forward five of them.

Hyden ripped over {10-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds} for a turned full house, and WSOP tournament rules dictate that Grandieri must show his hand. He turned over {j-Diamonds}{10-Clubs} for a pair of tens.

Hyden now has 1.575 million chips, while Grandieri plummeted down to 1.265 million.

Nancy Birnbaum Eliminated in 9th Place ($19,276)

Level 29 : 20,000/40,000, 5,000 ante
Nancy Birnbaum - 9th Place
Nancy Birnbaum - 9th Place

Nancy Birnbaum open-shipped all in for her last 290,000 from the hijack and was quickly called by Jonathan Tamayo from the next seat over. The rest of the table folded and the hands were rolled over.

Birnbaum: {A-Spades}{6-Hearts}
Tomayo: {A-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}

Birnbaum needed help but had her hopes dashed when Tomayo paired on the {5-Clubs}{K-Diamonds}{10-Spades} flop. The {9-Diamonds} on the turn sealed her fate and the {6-Diamonds} on the river gave her a meaningless pair. She will collect $19,276 for her efforts.

Tom Gleason - 8th Place

William Looper opened to 85,000 from under the gun, and the action folded to Tom Gleason, who three-bet jammed for 850,000 from the cutoff. The button and blinds released, and Looper snapped it off.

Gleason turned over {q-Hearts}{q-Spades} again, but he was crushed by Looper's {k-Spades}{k-Clubs}.

The kings held as the board ran out {7-Hearts}{9-Diamonds}{7-Clubs}{10-Hearts}{9-Hearts}, and Gleason was eliminated in eighth place.

David Grandieri Eliminated 7th Place ($30,974)

Level 30 : 25,000/50,000, 5,000 ante
David Grandieri - 7th Place
David Grandieri - 7th Place

David Grandieri entered Day 3 as the chip leader. Unfortunately for the one-time big stack, he has officially run out of chips.

Jonathan Tamayo opened to 105,000 and Mark Rose flatted from the next seat over. It folded to Grandieri who moved all in for about 800,000 total. Tomayo folded and Rose announced a call.

Rose: {10-Spades}{10-Clubs}
Grandieri: {8-Hearts}{8-Clubs}

Grandieri was crushed and needed help to survive. Unfortunately for him, the board ran out {4-Hearts}{Q-Diamonds}{6-Hearts}{4-Spades}{9-Diamonds} and he was forced to settle for a 7th place finish and the $30,974 that accompanies it. Rose, on the other hand, is sitting on a solid stack of 2.05 million.

Luke Graham Eliminated in 6th Place ($40,029)

Level 30 : 25,000/50,000, 5,000 ante
Luke Graham - 6th Place
Luke Graham - 6th Place

Luke Graham opened to 120,000 on the button, William Looper three-bet to 305,000 from the big blind, and Graham responded with a four-bet all in. Looper quickly called the 900,000-chip bet, and the hands were tabled.

Graham: {k-Hearts}{j-Hearts}
Looper: {10-Spades}{10-Diamonds}

The flop fell {9-Spades}{4-Spades}{7-Diamonds}, giving Looper backdoor straight and flush draws, and the turn was the {8-Spades}, keeping both draws and taking away Graham's jack outs. The {3-Diamonds} bricked on the river, and Graham was eliminated.

Looper is now our overwhelming chip leader with around 4.4 million chips.

Chris Hyden Eliminated in 5th Place ($52,411)

Level 30 : 25,000/50,000, 5,000 ante
Chris Hyden
Chris Hyden

Chris Hyden raised to 100,000 in the cutoff seat, Jonathan Tamayo three-bet to 265,000 on the button, and the action folded back to Hyden, who moved all in for 1.75 million. Tamayo checked his cards one last time to make sure he had what he thought he had, then called.

Hyden: {a-Spades}{9-Spades}
Tamayo: {k-Diamonds}{k-Clubs}

The {8-Diamonds}{5-Clubs}{j-Clubs} flop didn't change much, but the {a-Clubs} spiked on the turn, giving Hyden a leading pair of aces. Tamayo could still make the best hand with a club or a king.

The dealer rapped the table, then spiked the {k-Spades} on the river, giving Tamayo a set of kings.

After the hand, Clint Tolbert announced that he folded {k-Hearts}{10-Hearts}.

Hyden was eliminated in fifth place, earning him $52,411, while Tamayo is now the chip leader with 5.45 million chips.

Diamonds are Forever

Level 30 : 25,000/50,000, 5,000 ante
Clint Tolbert
Clint Tolbert

Jonathan Tamayo raised to 130,000 in first position, and Clint Tolbert three-bet to 275,000 from the small blind. Tamayo tanked for a bit, four-bet to 530,000, and Tolbert responded with a five-bet shove for 2.2 million. Tamayo looked at his cards one more time, then called.

Tamayo: {a-Spades}{q-Clubs}
Tolbert: {a-Hearts}{8-Diamonds}

Tolbert was crushed, but the {9-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds} flop gave him a plethora of outs to double up. The {2-Diamonds} turned, giving Tolbert a flush and ending the hand. A meaningless {2-Clubs} bricked off on the river, and Tolbert doubled to around 4.45 million chips.

Tamayo has roughly 3.35 million.

William Looper Eliminated in 4th Place ($69,536)

Level 32 : 40,000/80,000, 10,000 ante
William Looper - 4th Place
William Looper - 4th Place

Clint Tolbert opened the action by raising to 160,000 from under the gun. William Looper peeked at his cards on the button and cut out a three-bet to 360,000. The blinds folded and Tolbert tanked for thirty seconds before announcing that he was all in. Looper heaved a sigh and dropped in a call for his tournament life.

Tolbert: {A-Spades}{K-Spades}
Looper: {J-Diamonds}{j-Clubs}

Looper was ahead at the moment but was racing with Tolbert's overcards. The flop brought even more outs for Tolbert when it fell {8-Spades}{2-Spades}{2-Clubs}. The {7-Spades} on the turn gave Tolbert the ace-high flush and he skyrocketed into the lead in the hand.

Looper needed to catch a full house on the river to earn victory in this hand but the deck had a different idea. The river brought the {10-Clubs} and Tolbert was able to score the elimination. He now has about 5.7 million in chips.

Looper, on the other hand, will pocket a cool $69,536 for his efforts this weekend.
