Day 3 Started

Final 30 Return To Contend For Final Table Seat

WSOP Circuit
WSOP Circuit

Welcome back to our coverage of the 2012-13 World Series of Poker Circuit River Rock Main Event. Yesterday's play saw the 246 players from the three starting days combine to create the Day 2 field. At the end of the day a mere 30 participants remained with Sonny Sekhan leading the field with a stack of 1.762 million.

Yesterday's play saw a slew of notable faces return to the felt for their shot at poker glory. Unfortunately for some, they were unable to gain any momentum and busted before the field made the money. Alex Sutherland, Noah Vaillancourt, Greg Mueller, Mark Bonsack, and Matt Jarvis were just some of those players.

The money bubble was popped roughly halfway through the day once the field was whittled down to the final 108 players. Some of those to find their elimination after cashing were Darren Kennedy (107th), Daniel Idema (103rd), Day 2 chip leader Jingjing Liu (79th), Scott Stanko (69th), Scott Stiglitz (67th), Kelly Kellner (54th), Joel Micka (42nd), and Isaac Baron (37th).

Today has the possibility of being a comparatively quick day as play will stop once the final table is reached. Be sure to stay tuned to our coverage as we remain on hand for the players' quest to the final table!

Anderson KO's Martin

Ryan Biermann opened with an early position raise to 40,000. Trevor Martin looked at his cards and three-bet all in from two seats over and it folded to Calvin Anderson's button. Anderson four-bet all in over the top and Biermann released his hand.

Anderson: {Q-Spades}{Q-Hearts}
Martin: {A-Hearts}{7-Hearts}

The board fell {Q-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds}{K-Clubs}{J-Spades} and Anderson's set of queens was able to eliminate Martin from play.

Lim Doubles Through Gunnarsson

David Lim got his short stack all in before the flop and was called by Christopher Gunnarsson.

Lim: {2-Spades}{2-Diamonds}
Gunnarsson: {7-Spades}{7-Diamonds}

Lim was in dire need of help and luckily he found it on the {A-Hearts}{4-Spades}{2-Hearts} flop, giving him a set of deuces. The {3-Diamonds} turned which meant that a five would chop the pot and Gunnarsson could still hit a seven for the win. The river was the {J-Clubs} and Lim was able to score the double to about 360,000.

Pecaski Pushing

David Pecaski opened to 43,000 only to have Justin Ciolfitto slide out a three-bet to 125,000. Pecaski went into the tank for about a minute before announcing that he was all in. Pecaski put Ciolfitto to the test for all of his chips and after another minute Ciolfitto decided not to put in his remaining 640,000.

With this pickup, Pecaski is now sitting on about 1,500,000.

Wasyk Falls To Lim

Douglas Wasyk open shoved all in for his last 104,000 before the flop and it folded to David Lim in the big blind. Lim called and the hands were tabled:

Lim: {K-Hearts}{10-Clubs}
Wasyk: {A-Hearts}{3-Hearts}

Wasyk was in the lead and stayed that way by pairing his ace on the {Q-Spades}{A-Clubs}{9-Diamonds} flop. The {10-Hearts} on the turn gave Lim some hope of scoring the knockout and he hit his miracle when the {10-Diamonds} rolled off on the river.

Wasyk was eliminated in 27th place while Lim has boosted his stack to about 470,000.
