We've spotted a few big stacks in the field, including Jonathan Moseley who now has more than 80,000.

After we wrote down Moseley's name, one player at his table blurted, "He's sucked out on everybody! Put that in the blog!"

Shelmerdine Lapping the Field

Level 8 : 250/500, 50 ante

Kirk Shelmerdine — race car driver and former crew chief for Dale Earnhardt Sr. — is back today after crashing prior to the end yesterday's Day 1a. And so far through the first half of Day 1b he's had it in high gear throughout.

We just saw him grab another small pot to add further to his stack. Shelmerdine has been collecting chips consistently all day to build what appears to be the first 100,000-plus chip stack in the room.

Fading "Runner-Runner"

Level 8 : 250/500, 50 ante

Kou Vang led out for 3,000 on a flop of {9-Clubs}{3-Hearts}{5-Clubs}, and Frank Aquino raised to 9,000. Vang tanked for quite some time before raising to 24,000, which was enough to put Aquino all in, and the Greenville, South Carolina native called.

Aquino: {a-Hearts}{a-Diamonds}
Vang: {a-Clubs}{10-Clubs}

"I need to fade runner-runner," Aquino announced.

In truth, all Vang needed was a club to eliminate Aquino. The turn brought the {2-Diamonds}.

"No four!" Aquino pleaded. "No four!"

The river was black, and it was two-sided, but the {5-Spades} was a brick. Aquino doubled to around 47,000, while Vang is floating around the starting stack of 20,000.

Aldridge All In

Level 8 : 250/500, 50 ante

Flop: {6-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds}{5-Hearts}

Ken Aldridge and a second player checked. Tom Williamson fired 2,200, a player in the cutoff called, and Aldridge called as well.

The turn brought the {9-Hearts}, and Aldridge instantly bet 5,000.

"Raise," Williamson announced the very moment Aldridge's orange T1,000 chips hit the felt.

Williamson made it 12,500 to go, and the action folded back to Aldridge.

"All in," the yellow-clad bracelet winner announced, making it 30,625.

Williamson made a crying call.

Aldridge: {10-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}
Williamson: {a-Diamonds}{8-Clubs}

Aldridge had turned the nuts, Williamson the second-nuts, and the {j-Clubs} bricked on the river. Aldridge doubled to 70,000 chips, while Williamson dropped down to 22,000.

Cranfill Can't Survive Day 1b

Level 9 : 300/600, 75 ante
Josh Cranfill and his father Shorty
Josh Cranfill and his father Shorty

North Carolinian and Elon graduate Josh Cranfill has unfortunately been eliminated here on Day 1b of the World Series of Poker Circuit Cherokee Main Event.

According to tablemate Matt Chang, Cranfill was all in preflop for his last few thousand holding {a-}{4-}. An opponent called with {a-}{10-}, and despite flopping a wheel draw, Cranfill was unable to make a better hand.

We wish Cranfill the best of luck in his future endeavors, and look forward to seeing him again on the felt.
