Crawford vs. Kirk

Level 21 : 4,000/8,000, 1,000 ante

Claudia Crawford opened for 17,000 only to have two-time WSOP Circuit ring winner Tripp Kirk, who is seated to her direct left, three-bet to 41,000. The rest of the field folded, Crawford called and the flop came down {7-Clubs}{3-Hearts}{10-Spades}. Crawford seized the initiative by leading out for 50,000, but Kirk put her to the test by moving all in. Crawford thought long and hard but eventually opted to fold.

It wasn't much of a hand but it gave us a good excuse to update you on their chip counts.

Quick Fall for RIos

Level 21 : 4,000/8,000, 1,000 ante
Pedro Rios on Day 1.
Pedro Rios on Day 1.

Not long ago Pedro Rios was left with just 25,000 after he got called an opponent's all-in shove for 210,000. Rios held {a-Spades}{4-Spades} on a {7-Hearts}{2-Spades}{3-Spades} flop against his opponent's {J-Diamonds}{J-Hearts}. Neither the {10-Hearts} turn nor {10-Diamonds} river help Rios and he was crippled.

About ten minutes later, Rios got his small stack all in preflop holding {9-}{9-} and was racing against the {K-}{Q-} of Sean Winter. Rios couldn't catch last time, and this time he wouldn't hold as Winter ended up making Broadway. With that, a disappointed Rios made his way to the payout desk.

Wunstel vs. Loewenthal Round 3

Level 21 : 4,000/8,000, 1,000 ante
Eli Loewenthal - Eliminated
Eli Loewenthal - Eliminated

In the third and final round of sparring between Corrie Wunstel and Eli Loewenthal, Loewenthal opened for a raise in middle position and Wunstel put in a three-bet. The action folded back to Loewenthal, who four-bet jammed, and Wunstel quickly called.

Loewenthal: {a-Diamonds}{k-Clubs}
Wunstel: {a-Spades}{a-Clubs}

Loewenthal flopped a pair of kings when the dealer fanned {2-Spades}{k-Diamonds}{q-Clubs}, but was unable to make trips to win or Broadway to chop when the turn and river came {5-Clubs}, {4-Hearts} respectively. He hit the rail, while Wunstel now has around 700,000 chips.

Jivkov Reigns Supreme

Level 21 : 4,000/8,000, 1,000 ante
Nick Jivkov on Day 1.
Nick Jivkov on Day 1.

Nick Jivkov is like a chip magnet. The three-time ring winner and WSOP gold bracelet holder has went on an incredible run and now appears to be the chip leader.

We didn't catch the hand that got him up to 800,000, but he was kind enough to tell us about it. According to him, a player opened for a standard raise and he called from the big blind with {K-}{J-}. The {J-}{3-}{5-} flop saw Jivkov check-raise his opponent's 22,000 bet up to 56,000, a call was made and a {K-} turned. From there Jivkov led out for 68,000 and then snap-called with his two pair when his opponent, who ended up having {A-}{9-} moved all in.

And that is the story of how our current chip leader came to reign supreme.

Brutal Exit for Johnson

Level 21 : 4,000/8,000, 1,000 ante

Jerry Johnson was all in and in great shape with {10-Clubs}{10-Diamonds} on a flop of {4-Hearts}{a-Hearts}{10-Hearts}. His opponent, Davis Vo, held {a-Spades}{9-Spades} for just a pair of aces.

The {4-Diamonds} on the turn gave Johnson a full house, but it was a great card for Vo because it left him with two outs to make a better full house. Sure enough, the {a-Diamonds} spiked on the river, and Johnson was eliminated.

He hit the rail, while Vo now has 335,000 chips.

Wunstel vs. Loewenthal Round 2

Level 21 : 4,000/8,000, 1,000 ante

After Corrie Wunstel opened for 16,000 and another player called, Eli Loewenthal moved all in from the small blind for 78,000. Wunstel isolated and the cards were turned up.

Wunstel: {A-Diamonds}{Q-Clubs}
Loewenthal: {A-Clubs}{A-Hearts}

Loewenthal woke up with the granddaddy of all hands and it held up as the board ran out {k-Diamonds}{3-Clubs}{q-Hearts}{9-Spades}{3-Hearts}.

Set Over Set the Slow Way

Level 21 : 4,000/8,000, 1,000 ante

Brendan Waite opened for a raise to 16,000 in middle position, and Brad Johnson called on his left.

The dealer fanned {6-Hearts}{2-Diamonds}{a-Clubs}, Waite led out for 18,000, and Johnson called.

Waite led out again when the {5-Spades} turned, this time for 28,000, and again, Johnson called.

The Lincoln, Nebraska native fired a third and final bullet when the {10-Clubs} completed the board, moving all in for 132,000, and Johnson quickly called. Waite showed {6-Diamonds}{6-Clubs} for a set of sixes, and Johnson flashed {2-}{2-} for a set of deuces.
