Waite Doubles Up Through Chip Leader

Level 27 : 12,000/24,000, 4,000 ante

Brendon Waite opened this pot to 65,000 from the cutoff, and was faced with a reraise of 177,000, nearly half his stack, from Blair Hinkle in the small blind. Waite decided to make the call and when the {6-Hearts}{2-Hearts}{2-Clubs} flop came, Blair went all in and Waite called.

Blair: {k-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}
Waite: {q-Hearts}{j-Hearts}

Waite needed to catch any heart, jack, or queen. When the {5-Diamonds} peeled on the turn, Waite started to stand up but quickly sat back down as the {q-Clubs} on the river gave him a pair.

Waite Takes More for Hinkle

Level 27 : 12,000/24,000, 4,000 ante

Not long after Brendan Waite doubled, he opened for 50,000 from middle position and then called when Blair Hinkle three-bet to 108,000 from the cutoff. Waite check-called a bet of 135,000 on the {q-Spades}{7-Hearts}{9-Hearts} flop, and then both players checked the {7-Diamonds} turn.

When the {6-Spades} completed the board on the river, Waite led out for a healthy bet of 435,000 and Hinkle called. Waite tabled the {10-Spades}{8-Spades} for a rivered straight, and it was good as Hinkle simple sent his cards to the muck.

Ben Smith Eliminated In 8th Place ($14,343)

Level 27 : 12,000/24,000, 4,000 ante
Ben Smith - 8th Place
Ben Smith - 8th Place

Ben Smith went all in over the top of Hinkle's raise of 48,000 for a total of 274,000. Hinkle made the call and the cards were turned over:

Smith: {10-Hearts}{10-Spades}
Hinkle: {k-Hearts}{q-Hearts}

It was a coin flip for Smith, but after the {k-Spades}{9-Hearts}{j-Diamonds} came on the flop his tournament life depended on a queen coming. No help would come on the turn as the {4-Spades} hit the board, nor on the river {7-Diamonds}. Smith departs in eighth place taking home $14,343.

Sterling Savill Eliminated in 7th Place ($18,209)

 Savill - 7th Place

A short-stacked Sterling Savill moved all in under the gun for his last 235,000 or so and cleared the field all the way to Cord Garcia in the big blind. Interestingly, the two have been roommates on their trip to Council Bluffs. Friendship aside, Cord made the call.

Garcia: {A-Spades}{Q-Diamonds}
Savill: {A-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}

The two friends joked a bit as the flop came out {2-Spades}{6-Clubs}{k-Diamonds}. Nothing for Savill. The {A-Hearts} turn opened up some chop options, and both players indicated that they'd be ok with that. Unfortunately for Savill, it wouldn't happen as the useless {K-Hearts} peeled off on the river.

Interesting Three-Way Pot from Before the Break

Level 28 : 15,000/30,000, 5,000 ante

In one of the last hands before the break, Blair Hinkle opened for 48,000 under the gun and received a call from Brendan Waite in the small blind. Sean Small then opted for a three-bet to 138,000 from the big, both his opponents called, and it was three-way action to the {j-Hearts}{6-Diamonds}{2-Spades} flop.

Waite checked, Small bet 141,000, and two calls ensued, leading to the {Q-Clubs} turn. All three players ending up checking, and then did the same when the {6-Clubs} showed up on the river. Hinkle showed the {8-Hearts}{8-Clubs}, which was behind the {q-Diamonds}{j-Diamonds} of Waite. Unfortunately for them both, Small had rivered the best hand with the {8-Spades}{6-Spades}.

Garcia Doubles Up

Level 28 : 15,000/30,000, 5,000 ante

Blair Hinkle raised from under the gun to 65,000, and without hesitation Cord Garcia shoved all in with his remaining stack of 540,000. Without much delay Hinkle made the call and their cards were turned over:

Garcia: {k-Spades}{k-Clubs}
Hinkle: {9-Diamonds}{9-Spades}

Garcia was well ahead and after the {k-Hearts}{k-Diamonds}{9-Clubs} flop, Hinkle was drawing dead. Garcia doubled up to put him in third in chips.
