Baker Can't Crack Aces

Level 14 : 800/1,600, 200 ante

We only walked up to the table after the hand was over, but we caught a glimpse of David "ODB" Baker doubling up a short stack. We aren't sure what Baker held, but it couldn't beat the {a-Diamonds}{a-Clubs} of his opponent, on a board that read {6-Spades}{3-Hearts}{4-Spades}{j-Hearts}{5-Spades}.

It's likely that Baker had an under pair, because we did hear him say "I was hoping you had ace king" after the hand. Regardless, Baker is down to 75,000 after the hand.

Henson Heads Out

Level 14 : 800/1,600, 200 ante

Ray Henson came into today as one of our short stacks, barely over his starting stack of 20,000. Well it didn't take him long to get those chips in, and while we didn't catch the hand, we can confirm that he has busted, as we saw him walk out of the poker room with his back pack on.

So What Are We Playing For?

Level 13 : 700/1,400, 200 ante

With registration officially closed at the start of play, the tournament staff has tallied up the numbers. We had a total of 421 players, and we will be paying out 45 places. The first payout is $2,854, and the top 12 will lock up a 5-figure pay day. The grand prize? A gold ring, a seat in the Nation Championship in New Orleans in May, and a cool $138,938. We will post the rest of the payouts in the payouts tab shortly.

Yamada Doubles A Short Stack

Level 13 : 700/1,400, 200 ante

Derrick Yamada raised it up to 3,000 in early position, and a middle position player moved all in his last 15,600. Yamada made the call, and the cards were tabled.

Yamada: {k-Diamonds}{q-Spades}
Opponent: {a-Clubs}{9-Spades}

The board ran down all low cards, {8-Clubs}{7-Hearts}{3-Hearts}{3-Spades}{7-Diamonds}, and Yamada sent the chips over to his opponent, dropping him to 133,000 in the process.

Ingles Drops An Early Pot

Level 13 : 700/1,400, 200 ante

We caught up with the action on the flop, which read {a-Diamonds}{3-Spades}{9-Diamonds}. Jared Ingles was heads up with his opponent who was in the small blind, and that player checked to Ingles, who fired out 2,500. He made the call, and the turn brought the {4-Diamonds}. It was checked to Ingles, and again he fired out, this time for 5,200. He was called, and the river brought a fourth diamond, the {10-Diamonds}.

The small blind checked one more time, and Ingles checked his whole cards again before checking, and tabled {a-Spades}{9-Hearts}. His opponent caught up on the river, as he tabled {7-Hearts}{7-Diamonds} for a flush.

Ingles shook his head after the hand, and he is now down to 38,000.
