Back in May, the World Series of Poker Circuit wrapped its penultimate stop of the season at Horseshoe Tunica. The stop minted some big-time winners including Maurice Hawkins winning his record-setting 13 gold ring.

The stop culminated with the $1,700 buy-in Main Event, a tournament that attracted 466 entries and generated a $705,990 prize pool. Coming fresh off winning Event #9: $400 No-Limit Hold'em for $23,883, Blake Whittington went back-to-back to win the Main Event for $151,789, his fifth gold ring, and a seat into this 2019 Global Casino Championship.

“I'm elated. The week has just been unbelievable," he said at the time. "I just caught heat in the middle of the week. I had some deep runs, and I gained some confidence. It was crazy after I won the ring in the turbo [Event #9]."

Nuwwarah's Straight Holds Up

Level 5 : 300/600, 600 ante
Mo Nuwwarah

Justin Harvell raised it up from early position and Mo Nuwwarah defended from the big blind. The flop came {q-Hearts}{10-Spades}{9-Spades} and Nuwwarah checked to Harvell who continued with a bet. Nuwwarah check-raised enough to put Harvell all in and he made the call for around 15,000 chips.

Mo Nuwwarah: {j-Spades}{8-Clubs}
Justin Harvell: {q-Spades}{q-Clubs}

Nuwwarah flopped a straight but Harvell had outs with a set of queens. The {k-Spades} on the turn gave Harvell even more outs with the larger flush draw but the {2-Hearts} on the river bricked off to send the pot to Nuwwarah.

Peters Gets a Fold from Lee

Level 5 : 300/600, 600 ante

Stanley Lee raised to 1,500 from the hijack and was called by Tobias Peters on the button along with the big blind. The flop came {10-Spades}{9-Clubs}{9-Diamonds} and the big blind checked to Lee who continued for 1,600. Peters called and the big blind quickly folded.

The turn was the {8-Clubs} and both players checked to the {2-Clubs} on the river. Lee checked again and Peters flicked in a bet of 4,500. Lee peeked back at his cards and then slid them to the muck, allowing Peters to pull in the pot.

Lowery Flops the Goods

Level 5 : 300/600, 600 ante

After a limp in middle position, Daniel Lowery made it 2,100 to go from the hijack. The big blind called along with the limper to go three ways to a flop of {q-Clubs}{j-Clubs}{9-Diamonds}.

The action checked to Lowery who continued for 3,500 and only the big blind called. The turn was the {6-Spades} and the big blind check-called another bet of 5,000 from Lowery.

The river was the {j-Diamonds} and the big blind checked once more. Lowery tossed in a bet of 11,000 and his opponent called. Lowery tabled {k-Clubs}{10-Diamonds} for a flopped straight and his opponent conceded the pot.

Maurice Hawkins
Maurice Hawkins

Maurice Hawkins was moved from his original starting table but the move seems to be paying off as he has accumulated one of the largest stacks in the room thus far.

A completed board of {a-Clubs}{8-Clubs}{7-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}{k-Diamonds} was spread across the table and the action was on Hawkins who bet 15,000 into a pot of just over 10,000. His opponent thought for a couple of minutes before asking for the pot to be spread.

Eventually, he made the call and Hawkins turned over {a-Diamonds}{k-Hearts} for top two pair. His opponent nodded in approval as he claimed to also have aces up.
