Sheaves Takes Pot With Small Pair

Level 14 : 2,500/5,000, 5,000 ante

On a flop of {j-Diamonds}{q-Hearts}{j-Spades} Warren Sheaves bet 16,500 in position with two other players in the hand. Kindah Sakkal called and Roland Israelashvili folded. The turn was the {2-Spades}. Action went check-check. The river came the {4-Spades}. Both players checked again. Sheaves said "Four" and turned over the {5-Clubs}{4-Clubs}. Sakkal mucked and Sheaves took in the pot.

Same Ol' Song and Dance

Level 14 : 2,500/5,000, 5,000 ante
Stephen Song
Stephen Song

Stephen Song opened to 12,000 in middle position and Stanislav Angelov shoved all in for 68,500 on his left. The action folded back to Song who confirmed the count before making the call.

Song turned over {5-Spades}{5-Clubs} but it was Angelov who was ahead with {7-Spades}{7-Clubs}. The flop of {9-Spades}{8-Clubs}{3-Spades} proved to be safe for Angelov but the {5-Diamonds} on the turn spelled disaster. The {k-Spades} on the river changed nothing and Angelov was eliminated.

"Still running good," Tobias Peters mentioned.

"I've been running good all year," Song responded. "Next year might be different."

But as for now, it was Song's turn to take the spotlight. In the very next hand, Song made it 12,000 to go again and Alejandro Roman shipped all in for around 80,000. Song quickly called and the cards were on their backs again.

Song held {a-Clubs}{j-Hearts} and was dominating Roman's {a-Diamonds}{7-Hearts}. The board ran out {9-Spades}{6-Clubs}{3-Diamonds}{k-Spades}{9-Clubs} and Song scored another knockout to take over the chip lead.

Vornicu Makes River Call

Level 14 : 2,500/5,000, 5,000 ante

On a board that read {3-Clubs}{8-Hearts}{j-Spades}{7-Spades}{4-Clubs} Dmitri Perfilev bet 50,000 over to his opponent Valentin Vornicu who called after just a few seconds. Perfilev turned over the {q-}{k-} which was no good against the {9-}{9-} of Vornicu who added some chips to his stack that has started to rebuild since his table change.

Minghini's Flopped Set Gets Paid Off

Level 14 : 2,500/5,000, 5,000 ante

Picking up the action on the turn, Warren Sheaves and Jarod Minghini were heads-up in a hand with around 55,000 already in the middle. The board read {a-Spades}{q-Clubs}{4-Spades}{3-Clubs} and Sheaves checked from the big blind. Minghini bet 36,000 on the button and Sheaves called.

The river was the {5-Spades} and Sheaves checked once more. Minghini slid out a bet of 57,000 and Sheaves wasted little time to make the call. Minghini turned over {4-Hearts}{4-Diamonds} for a set of fours and Sheaves was forced to send his cards to the muck.

Turner Climbs Into Seven Figures

Level 15 : 3,000/6,000, 6,000 ante

Joshua Turner opened to 15,000 from the hijack and Valentin Vornicu called from the small blind. The two players headed to a flop of {a-Spades}{9-Diamonds}{4-Clubs} in which they both quickly checked.

Vornicu led out for 21,000 on the {8-Clubs} turn card and Turner just called. The river brought the {6-Diamonds} and Vornicu checked this time. Turner flicked in a bet of 25,000 and Vornicu quickly called. Turner tabled {a-Hearts}{2-Clubs} for top pair and Vornicu sent his cards to the muck.

Salazar Eliminates Steinman With Set

Level 15 : 3,000/6,000, 6,000 ante

Four players went to a flop of {j-Clubs}{q-Diamonds}{6-Spades}. Ian Steinman bet 25,000, Eric Salazar raised to 68,000 which cleared out the other two players. Steinman tanked for about 20 seconds before announcing all in which Salazar snap called.

Steinman had {a-Spades}{q-Spades} for top pair but was crushed by the {j-Hearts}{j-Diamonds} of Salazar. The turn was the {5-Hearts} and the river the {7-Clubs} to give no miracle to Steinman and he was eliminated just as the money bubble approaches.
